The Faction- Skate Punk Vol 1 Reunion, Atomic Liquors backlot, Las Vegas Nv 5/24/14 HD Multicam Punk

Here is the next installment of the series of video posts called “I forgot to post them a long time ago and was shocked when I searched the sac music archive and they were not there”.
I was so thrilled that The Faction got back together in 2014 and was playing shows that I drove to San Jose to see the first one back, then flew to Las Vegas to see this show. It was a DIY event put on by Dean from Blue Tile Lounge. It was a LOOONG day, but it was a blast. I think all of the other sets are on the channel/website. There is also multitrack audio that Dean and the guy from Not Like Your records did that would make this a LOT better, audio wise! I was plugged into the soundboard and unplugged to give someone the patch for the Faction, then the guy disappeared. D’oh.
Great show- my favorite part is the guy almost stage diving on me and you see me chicken out and bail with the camera. Lol, I’m a wuss when it comes to my camera.

McRad- Skate Punk Rock Vol 2 Reunion, Las Vegas Nv. 5/24/14 Multicam

This set is what prompted me to pull this footage back out and get it edited after 5 years. McRad footage is hard to find, and I can’t find any HD multicam footage of the band on youtube. I recall Chuck saying that he did not have enough (any?) time to rehearse with this band, so I have to give kudos to that bass player who appears to be learning the songs real-time.

Note: this has the HFM30 stock audio for the first few minutes, until I get my G10 going.

FSP (Fuck Shit Piss)- Skate Rock Punk Reunion, Las Vegas NV. 5/24/14 Multicam

I recently realized that we never edited some multicamera footage from the Skate Rock Reunion in Las Vegas about 5 years ago. Some of the band appearances were extremely rare, such as this one. FSP were from Las Vegas and although they were never on a skate rock comp, they played the show. I was happy & shocked that it was the same FSP that Ian Christe or one of the other old tape traders sent my way in the 80s. They released 2 demos in the mid-80s.
Even though they were based in Las Vegas in the 80s, there was at least 1 band member who flew in from out of town. They held up the show, waiting for him. Pretty funny 🙂

JFA- Skate Punk Rock Vol 2 Reunion, Las Vegas Nv. 5/24/14 Multicam J.F.A.

This skate rock reunion show was the only time I have seen JFA… but everyone in Sacramento can go see them next Saturday at the Blue Lamp! You should head out and support the venue before it is sold.

Johnny Rad & the Eggplants- Skate Punk Vol 2 Reunion, Las Vegas NV. 5/24/14 Live Mulitcam Sbd

This is the only set of the day where the soundboard mix is decent enough to use. I don’t see any multicam videos of them on youtube, so this may be a rare treat.

Watermarked so that dick head over at “skate rock” youtube channel can’t rip it from youtube, apply some effect and repost. Please don’t steal my videos. Thanks.

Minus One- Skate Punk Reunion, Las Vegas Nv. 5/24/14 Quasi Multicam Live

Here is a newly edited video for you. Only the first 10 minutes is multicam on this one, and then it moves to the stationary camera in the back. By the time Minus One came on, I was totally drained. I flew in with my family the day before. We hit the pool right when we arrived(side note- don’t EVER take your 3 year old to the MGM grand pool. People making out and beer bongs going on while we try to navigate the lazy river), then I was up until 3am at the Naked Raygun PRB afterhours show. Then up for the 3 year old’s wakeup time (7am?) and more swimming, then over to the TWELVE HOUR long show. This was toward the end of it. I could not hold the camera up anymore. I got 10 minutes of the set from the stage and had a rest.

Dephinger- Skate Punk Vol 1 Reunion, Las Vegas Nv. 5/24/14 Multicam with soundboard audio Scottsdale

If I remember correctly, Dephinger were the first band to play the reunion show, and they were definitely entertaining! After the show, they were giving me the hard sell on a split 7″ with JFA. I think they were trying to get gas money to get back to Arizona.
PS: They might have been on drugs. Judge from the first song and the look on their faces. 🙂

CJ Ramone- Punk Rock Bowling, LVCS, Las Vegas Nv. 5/23/14 HD Master w/Rode Videomic Pro w/STEVE SOTO

Like I mentioned yesterday, I have not had time to digitize much of anything lately due to work. Hell, I couldn’t even eat yesterday. Banana and protein bar day. So no time means digging for stuff that is fast & easy to post.
Here is one that I forgot to post back when I filmed it- a CJ Ramone set, opening for the mighty Naked Raygun at PRB 2014. I was floored to pull out this bluray and find that Steve Soto is playing bass for him. Man, what a nice surprise that was.
Lots of Ramones songs, and a lot off of CJ’s self-released Reconquista album. I tried to get a board recording as well, but the new soundguy wasn’t having it.

Naked Raygun- Punk Rock Bowling, LVCS, Las Vegas NV 5/23/14 Multicam with Rode Videomic Pro Stereo

I thought I had posted this one years ago, back when I filmed it. Man, this doesn’t seem like 7 years ago. I got to this show WAY too early and while I was waiting, I was accosted by 2 or 3 drunk “old school” punks who wanted to punch me because they didn’t like my shirt. I guess you can never joke about the sacred DK logo.. who knew?
Anyway, the sound is only OK on this one. I asked the soundman for a board feed and it was his first night there and he was nervous about patching someone in. The room had high ceilings and the sound was muddy. You should hear the DPA mic audio for this one- total mud.
This was in that span where Pierre had stopped playing with the band regularly and before Fritz, so we have Pete Mittler on bass for this one. Good stuff.
This was one of those nighttime club shows during PRB. The place had a country theme- “Las Vegas Country Saloon” is the full name.

Beastie Boys- Lollapalooza, Sam Boyd Stadium, Las Vegas, NV. (Maybe) 7/7/94 xfer f/low gen VHS tape

I don’t think I have shared this but I am digitizing ALL of Todd Nakamine’s VHS tapes. Even stuff like Welcome Back Kotter and Soap.. every. single. one. That was part of the deal to get all of this great stuff. Anyway, there was a tape in there labeled “Beastie Boys Vegas” and I do a quick google search and see that they played a set in 2004 for MTV and the $2 bill show, so I figured that’s what it was… and then I hit play. If the Las Vegas label is right, this seems to be a not-on-youtube video of their LV stop on the Lollapalooza 94 tour. Hot damn!

The camerawork is comically bad to start but it settles down. Fans will enjoy this one I think.
