Kepi & Friends- Side Door, Sacramento Ca 10/15/22 4K UHD Multicam Schoeps Full Appetite Adrenochrome

Update 11/20/24: CRAP! Youtube removed this video. Here’s what they said: “We think your content didn’t follow our policy on harmful conspiracy theories.”. Kepi was JOKING, youtube-bot. I tried to appeal and the bot rejected it immediately. The future sucks, people. If you really want to see this, please contact me.

oh crap, I almost forgot to post today. Daughter had a soccer game in Elk Grove which chewed up most of the day.
This is the first of 3 Kepi multicams coming over the next couple of weeks- this is the show that Kepi booked at the Side Door with Head, one year ago today! We were recording through the soundboard on this one, but it didn’t come out so you get the Schoeps audio.
Kepi played the entire Appetite for Adrenochrome album at the show. I think this was only the 2nd time ever that this was done- the first being at the Harlow’s Cattle Club 30th celebration. Very special set. Shout out to Adam on drums, who was a last-minute fill in for Jaz Brown, who came down ill right before the show.
I love the A4A album. It’s a little more glammy/garagey than the other ones, it’s fun to hear it again. Thanks to Kepi for all that you share with us.

Head- Side Door, Sacramento Ca. 10/15/22 4K UHD Multicam with Matrix Audio Seattle Garage Punk

Here is a rare treat- back in October, Kepi hosted a couple of shows at the Side Door here in Sacramento. On the first night, he invited his long-time friends from Seattle– a band called Head from Seattle. I had never heard them before but Kepi had been friends with the band for about 30 years and if he recommends them, I’m all in. They were GREAT and after some research, it looks like they are highly regarded in the punk rock record collecting circles. I’m glad I got to check them out- thanks Kepi!
I had never filmed multicamera at Side Door before and I have even more respect for Eric Bianchi’s livestream multicamera wizardry from there- it’s a tough place to set up cameras onstage. Anyway, these 3 angles at least kinda turned out ok and where else are you going to find a 4k multicam of Head.

Gel- Cafe Colonial, Sacramento Ca 10/7/22 4K UHD Multicam with Matrix Audio Hardcore

Here’s the last vid from that October 7 show. Everyone went absolutely nuts for Gel- in fact, I had 2 gopros hit the floor after about 5min of the show. Roger Ford walked up and handed one of them to me- somehow the mount broke off.. and the other one was behind the drummer! How the hell did the drummer gopro fall? Crazy. So this will start out as a 5 camera multicam, then go to 4, then 3. Probably the most chaotic show I have ever seen at the cafe, and that is saying something.
Also, the band was so nice and gave me permission to film, and asked me to tag them on instagram with the video. I will try not to go into my old man rant about instagram, but I don’t understand the purpose as I am a desktop guy. I don’t use my phone for this stuff at all. So, if someone can figure out how to tag them on instagram, please go ahead. I don’t get it.

Freewill- Cafe Colonial, Sacramento 10/7/22 4K UHD Multicam with Multitrack Audio Big Bear

There are a bunch of bands named Freewill- if you look at discogs, there are about 10 between “free will” and freewill. This band originated in Southern California(Big Bear) and released an album called Sun Return on New Age records in 1988. I had never heard them before, but they were great and a perfect fit for the bill with Verbal Assault.

Verbal Assault- Cafe Colonial, Sacramento 10/7/22 4K UHD Multicam with Multitrack Audio

I had seen that Verbal Assault had been playing recent shows back east and I really wanted to see them again, but I could not justify another cross-country trip for a concert. When Scott Torguson announced that he was bringing them to town, I wasn’t gonna miss it. Having it at the Cafe was a bonus- best place in town.
I had not seen Verbal Assault since they played at the Club Can’t Tell in 1986. In fact, I don’t think they had played Sac since then. I showed up to the Cafe early and put up a bracket against the back wall so I could mount an anchor camera as a 5th angle. It came out pretty nice. Sounds great- thanks Matt and Anonymous for the audio!

Wet the Rope- Cafe Colonial, Sacramento Ca. 10/7/22 4K UHD Multicam with Multichannel Soundboard Mix

Wet the Rope are a Sacramento-based band with 2 of the main members, Scott Torguson and Chris Sanders playing again after being in the late-80s band Platypus Scourge. That sentence structure sucks, sorry. They are really good at that angular hardcore stuff- Chris’ guitar work is excellent here.
I have the full audio multitrack, but I got there late and missed the start of the set. You’ll see me put up the one stationary camera, then the other camera kicks in after a couple minutes.

Oxy- Harlow’s, Sacramento Ca 10/3/22 4K UHD Multicam with Matrix Soundboard/Audience audio

I saw Matt Oneillin(sp?) before this Soul Glo Harlow’s show and asked him if he was doing sound for the show tonight– he does sound at the Cafe and I knew JT was out for the day. Nope, he is in the band Oxy and they were playing! I had no idea he was in a band, and I have only seen him at work where he is pretty quiet and reserved. Who knew he was a hardcore madman vocalist? Very entertaining.

Soul Glo- Harlow’s, Sacramento Ca. 10/3/22 4K UHD Multicam with Matrix Audio Hardcore

Hey everyone, I hope you are enjoying your Monday. No mediocre Monday today- here is a nice vid of Soul Glo from the show last October. Harlow’s usually doesn’t host hardcore shows- I think it is funny that so much dust was being kicked up. You can totally see it in their fancy light beams.
I didn’t have a great source of audio for this one- board mix was all vocals, not much bass in the room mic. I did the best I could.

Sick Burn- Harlow’s, Sacramento Ca 10/3/22 4K UHD Multicam with Matrix Audio Hardcore Thrash RAD

I hope everyone is surviving the endless rain- I woke up this morning and the backyard was a pond once again- I did not even hear the storm!
Here is a new set of multicams from a show at Harlows back in October. First band up was one of the most established in the local scene- I was puzzled as to why they were opening the show, but glad to see them play a room like Harlow’s. The club is lit well enough to see Lory when she jumps into the pit to sing.
My only regret/mistake with this one is with the audio matrix. I mixed Lori’s vocals a bit too low and it bugs me a bit. I might re-do the audio on this one and re-post. You know, in my “spare time”

Fastcase- Harlow’s, Sacramento Ca. 10/3/22 4K video with Soundboard audio Hardcore

I went to the show on Monday night and did a 5 camera multicam of all the bands.. except fastcase. I thought there were 5 bands on the bill and I did not have enough battery to do 5 bands, and I had assumed Soul Glo were going to play at least an hour… nope. Only 4 bands and they played a total of 90 minutes! That’s an efficient show.
So what I am trying to say is that I could have done a multicam of fastcase but miscalculated in many ways. Sorry.
