For today’s “On This Day in History” post, I chose this Yo La Tengo set that I received from the taper. I had thought I got it from Jim Romeo (gloriously depicted in the Tom Courtenay video), but as I was trying to find an image for this post, I discovered that 1 track from this set was officially released AND it helped me remember an old trader friend. Double Dare (Sominextraction) from this set was released on the Big Day Coming 7″ and the notes helped me remember trading with Rich Baybusky, the taper of the show. I have close to 200 Yo La Tengo recordings on the ol’ tape list, and just about all of the early ones came from Rich and Jim.
