Jonah Matranga, Allyson Seconds, David Houston, Kepi Ghoulie- Kevin Seconds- Side Door, Sac 12/23/22

There has been a wonderful annual tradition happening in Sacramento over the years- around Christmas, these fine musicians would gather on the same stage- and all play together. This used to happen on Christmas Eve and I was never able to make it due to other obligations. Last year, they moved it to the 23rd and I was finally able to go for the first time! It was so great- 2 hours and 40min of them having SO MUCH FUN. Each musician would start a song, and others sometimes join in if they know it.
It’s your lucky day- this show is happening again this year- on the 23rd (this coming Saturday) at the Side Door. Tickets are still available! Only $20!! I will post a link to buy ticket in my facebook post comments.
For now, here is an example of what you can expect- here is last year’s show. New surprises (and jokes!) every year.

Head- Side Door, Sacramento Ca. 10/15/22 4K UHD Multicam with Matrix Audio Seattle Garage Punk

Here is a rare treat- back in October, Kepi hosted a couple of shows at the Side Door here in Sacramento. On the first night, he invited his long-time friends from Seattle– a band called Head from Seattle. I had never heard them before but Kepi had been friends with the band for about 30 years and if he recommends them, I’m all in. They were GREAT and after some research, it looks like they are highly regarded in the punk rock record collecting circles. I’m glad I got to check them out- thanks Kepi!
I had never filmed multicamera at Side Door before and I have even more respect for Eric Bianchi’s livestream multicamera wizardry from there- it’s a tough place to set up cameras onstage. Anyway, these 3 angles at least kinda turned out ok and where else are you going to find a 4k multicam of Head.

Kepi & Friends- Side Door, Sacramento Ca 10/15/22 4K UHD Multicam Schoeps Full Appetite Adrenochrome

Update 11/20/24: CRAP! Youtube removed this video. Here’s what they said: “We think your content didn’t follow our policy on harmful conspiracy theories.”. Kepi was JOKING, youtube-bot. I tried to appeal and the bot rejected it immediately. The future sucks, people. If you really want to see this, please contact me.

oh crap, I almost forgot to post today. Daughter had a soccer game in Elk Grove which chewed up most of the day.
This is the first of 3 Kepi multicams coming over the next couple of weeks- this is the show that Kepi booked at the Side Door with Head, one year ago today! We were recording through the soundboard on this one, but it didn’t come out so you get the Schoeps audio.
Kepi played the entire Appetite for Adrenochrome album at the show. I think this was only the 2nd time ever that this was done- the first being at the Harlow’s Cattle Club 30th celebration. Very special set. Shout out to Adam on drums, who was a last-minute fill in for Jaz Brown, who came down ill right before the show.
I love the A4A album. It’s a little more glammy/garagey than the other ones, it’s fun to hear it again. Thanks to Kepi for all that you share with us.

Kepi Ghoulie- The Side Door, Sacramento Ca. 6/12/21 Early Set Groovie Ghoulies 4K UHD Lumix GH5S

It’s the triumphant return of Kepi to a live concert setting! After a year plus of playing to an iphone (and a few backyard shows), this is the first concert Kepi played in a year-plus. It was a lot of fun! Kepi also played set, but I had to head home. I’ll do the multi-set thing next time.
