Quasi- Harlows, Sacramento Ca 9/29/24 4K UHD Complete show Schoeps Audio Janet Weiss Sleater Kinney

I missed Quasi’s performance of Featuring Birds at the Chapel this past summer because I had COVID, but this was a nice consolation prize. Brian (Abstract Entertainment) brought Built to Spill to town and they had Quasi along as the opener, and they played almost an hour! They even pulled out that killer instrumental song off of R&B Transmogrification- that was a treat!
My friend Jim Mclain also filmed with multiple cameras- sign up to his youtube channel if you want to see that version, once it gets posted.
Nice to partner with my OLD friend (since 1987!) Anonymous. Thanks for the audio, it sounds great. Vocals were a bit low to start the set.
One last thing- I didn’t have my sh*t together because I was talking to friends, so this cuts in during the first song and there is another cut toward the end when I had a battery swap. Jim’s will be complete.

Quasi- Ivy Room, Albany Ca. 2/25/23 4K UHD video with Rode Videomic pro stereo Sleater Kinney

For all of you who are on the fence about going to the Quasi show at Starlet room tonight, you need to go. They have an excellent new album out, and they are weeks into a national tour. They are firing on all cylinders at this point. If you are unaware of them, I am posting the video from last night. It was sold out and packed and I could not find Sam before the show, so this one is 1 camera only.
The set consists of all Organ/Drums songs, which are my favorite. Quasi has not been to Sac since 2004, so you need to come see this!
This one is still uploading at the time that I wrote this, so it may not be rendered to 4k when I post. It will, takes YT some time with a file of this size.

Live Concert Video

Quasi- Empire, Sacramento Ca. 5/21/04 xfer from master tape! Sleater Kinney

I had been a fan of Samuel Coomes’ work ever since The Donner Party in the late 80s. I stumbled across Quasi by accident in 1997. I bought tickets to their SF shows in 1998 and 1999 (including one with Elliot Smith), and something always came up and I never made it. This was my first and only time seeing them. Check out R&B Transmogrification, Featuring Birds, and my favorite Field Studies albums. Also features Janet Weiss from Sleater Kinney on drums.

I really enjoyed prepping today’s “on this day in history” post. I love the band and this is a great performance and sounds nice. The vocals were a little buried so I izotope’d them up a bit.
I am still a bit irritated about missing their show at The Chapel last summer, when they played all of “Featuring Birds”. I love that album and it would have been great to see it performed. They do quite a bit of it on this one.
Killer jam into Pink Floyd’s Interstellar Overdrive to end the show.
