it’s time for the Patreon Voter’s Choice for the week! That means that you get TWO videos today. You all need a palate cleanse anyway I bet.

I think I got this from someone I traded with in Spain- like, a real “mail the disc from Spain to here” type of deal. I can’t remember if he taped this show or traded for this, but it’s not too bad. Audio is a little thin but it is clear and not distorted. Nice live document of their collab.

Did they really play 3 and a half hours, or is there an issue with this disc?

Party Time- Last Show, Portland OR 5/22/04 pre- Red Fang xfer from 8mm master enhanced

Here’s a rare one. Before David Sullivan, John Sherman and Bryan Giles were Red Fang, they were 3/4 of this Portland-based band… Or this might have been a side project. Anyway, this looks to be the only complete video of them around.

Quasi- Crystal Ballroom, Portland OR 3/10/00 DAT Master to CDR Coresound Mics Pink Floyd Sam Coomes

I really enjoyed prepping today’s “on this day in history” post. I love the band and this is a great performance and sounds nice. The vocals were a little buried so I izotope’d them up a bit.
I am still a bit irritated about missing their show at The Chapel last summer, when they played all of “Featuring Birds”. I love that album and it would have been great to see it performed. They do quite a bit of it on this one.
Killer jam into Pink Floyd’s Interstellar Overdrive to end the show.

Satan’s Pilgrims- Lost Forest, Portland Or? Mid-1990s Surf Rock

Big thanks to Krista Wheeler in the Pacific Northwest Music Archives FB group for confirming that this show looked like it took place in Portland- there are going to be a lot more questions about vague dates & venue names coming up! She also told me that I messed up and put some of the Satan’s Pilgrims footage at the end of the galaxy trio post. Here is the rest of the Satan’s Pilgrims footage from that night.

It’s Monday again. I don’t have anything prepared that fits the bill for Mediocre Monday, so you get this one. A portion of an undated Galaxy Trio show from La Luna. This one is nice- lighting is good. Galaxy Trio are usually playing the small dark bars.

Galaxy Trio- Portland, Or. Mid-90s Opening for Helios Creed xfer from 8mm master enhanced

It’s mediocre Monday, on a holiday week!
This one is mediocre due to its length. Only 2 and a half minutes. The venue was super dark- I cranked the brightness and contrast for this enhancement so you can at least see it. Glad that Craig captured these guys so much- love the surf space rock.

Galaxy Trio- Satyricon, Portland Or. 1995 xfer from master videotape with Sam Henry

Here is another cool Galaxy Trio video from Craig Babb’s collection of master tapes. This one features Sam Henry on keyboards for the last minute of the video. Sam was a legendary drummer- starting with The Wipers in the late 70s, to Napalm Beach in the 80s, through many great punk/surf bands up to 2022. Sam was on tour with Jenny Don’t and the Spurs in late January when he fell ill. Doctors discovered that he had cancer, and he passed away on Sunday. What a terrible, sudden shock- I will add a link to the Gofundme to help his family in comments.

Dick Dale- La Luna, Portland OR 10/1/94 xfer from master Videotape Live Surf Guitar Legend

I love it when youtube commenters come through. Someone confirmed that this show (with Galaxy Trio opening) was from the 1994 Dick Dale show at La Luna. Now we have an exact date. Thank you.
