A couple years ago, I was trolling Ebay back when I had more spare time and found this demo motherlode of Dallas bands and they were really cheap. There were 2 Nocturne demos in there- I recently sold this one on Ebay to a cool guy named Ryan who helped me ID song titles for the second one (coming soon!).
The band released a couple things locally and then were picked up by Triple X records who released a couple albums by the band

Another Sacramento band demo from a ways back from Anonymous 2’s collection. Man, he has a ton of demos in those boxes. Las Pesadillas is described as “Punk-gypsy-spaghetti-surf-rock since 1995” according to their bandcamp page. I think I figured out about half of the band members by comparing the first names on this demo vs. the band members on the early releases: Noah Nelson: Guitar/Vocal Steve Sullivan: Bass Jason Cox: Drums Eddy (?): Guitar Damian Sol: Violin. I could not find any of these songs on any of their releases from 2002-now.

Here’s one from Anonymous 2’s collection. Since this person promoted shows in the area, there are a ton of demos from Sacramento area bands along with a bunch of others from around the country. I am working on documenting all of the tapes, like you requested in the Patreon. Sorry it is slow going- I had to wait for my wrist to heal!
The Mummydogs were Guy Kyser (Thin White Rope), Johanna Kyser (Thornucopia), Cary Rodda and Paul Takushi (tons of Davis bands). When I first digitized this a few months back, I thought that it might have been one of my remixed board tapes that I did of theirs but after a closer listen I think this is really a 2 song demo. It does not shazam to the only album they released, so I am going with Demo unless someone proves me wrong.
More info thanks to Paul (drummer and probable engineer of this demo!) “This must be a very early demo bc when I hear the drums, it’s not what I ended up playing as time passed. (Sounds really stiff, too.) I want to say that it was recorded at the old practice spot in W Sac, two doors down from the Deftones’ spot. I think I engineered it on my Tascam Porta 2 4-track cassette machine. We used two PZMs to capture the bass and drums, a SM58 on guitar, and a SM57 on keyboards. Mixed that down to two tracks, then overdubbed the vocals. Then, mixed that into two tracks. Then, made copies from that.”

What you see in the photo is all the info I have on this tape. After listening to the tape(shazam/youtube can’t ID it) and checking discogs, I think I know who this is, but confirmation would be nice.
Here is what Discogs says: “Punk band from Colorado Springs, Colorado, formed in 1996 by Adam Leech and his friends. Originally a four-piece band with a horror punk/garage rock sound, the group evolved into a glam punk/rock and roll-focused trio with “Shawn Stafford Infection” on drums, “Loose Cannon” on bass and “Philly Favorite” on guitar and vocals.”
This definitely has a horror/garage punk sound, so I am running with it.

First one is from Anonymous 2’s collection. The design of this demo tape is very similar to another Deathray demo that I posted a year or so back from my collection, but this one has a completely different track list. Not sure if it was from the same session.
Guitarist Greg Brown was in Cake and Dana Gumbiner was in Little Guilt Shrine prior to Deathray.

Alright, enough flailing for today. I finally got a new video transfer PC up and running so there should be no more audio video synch issues! I went with the nuclear option and just built a new PC from scratch with win7 and an SSD. Getting all of this old crap to work together is always a hassle but it is looking good so far. This demo is from Anonymous 2’s collection. I don’t have any song titles, but I tried Shazam’ing the first one and it didn’t ID it and the omniscient youtube algo didn’t know what it was either. As with most of Anon 2’s tapes, this is for sale. I was going to put it up on Ebay for him since there is no sales history on this, but make an offer. What the heck.

Yesterday I realized that I hadn’t posted anything from our beloved local Sacramento bands for a while. Here is a tape I got from Scott Kazos- I did not even know it existed until recently. Go National were one of my favorite Sacramento-based bands. Kevin and Allyson Seconds on guitar and vocals were the 2 members who were in the band throughout- but the band also had quite a few Sacramento notable artists along for the ride. This tape is from 1997 and has Grub Dog (currently with Forever Goldrush and Loose Engines), and Mike Tamony (currently with Legion of Decency). Speaking of Forever Goldrush, as an extra bonus, I will put a new Forever Goldrush song in facebook comments – it was my favorite song released last year. Great stuff. This tape has different versions of 2 of my favorite GN songs from their full-length CD- Aqua Dirty (my fave) and Straight Up Jen (love that break before the guitars come in!). It also has an apparently unreleased track called Our 1st Mistake. Awesome!

Convoy used to play sac so often in the late 90s, it was like they were a local band. I caught them once or twice by accident, I think. Here is the demo from 1997. Song titles in the photo. From Eddie Jorgensen’s collection
