RACE!!! at KDVS 2008 Tony Passarell Archive Free Jazz xfer f/archive CD Byron Blackburn? Ross Hammond

Collections post from Tony Passarell’s endless collection of tapes and discs. What you see is all I know about this one. It was on a spindle of discs from the mid-2010’s, so this one is likely from the same time frame. No DJ’s speaking so I can’t tell if it is from Studio A or some other show.

I tried to find anything online about this band and I found this one discogs: “Byron Blackburn, Tony Passarell – The Race!!! EP”. So maybe that’s what this is. If anyone has more info, please let me know.

Old 97s- UC Davis Quad, Davis Ca. 5/6/01 xfer from master tape!

There was a time when I was a huge Old 97s fan. I would see every one of their shows in California. This is the time that they played the UCD quad for FREE at lunch. It was hotter than hell, so I started my DAT machine plugged into the soundboard and went to video. I came back after the show and my poor DAT had heat stroke- the display was black and it stopped. What a bummer. At least the video turned out nice. Filmed with an Aiwa DV camera(don’t know model #) and stock microphone.

Barbara Manning and the Go-Luckys- KDVS in Studio DJs, Davis Ca 6/24/00 xfer from pre-fm master tape

Here’s a fun one for today- before the US tour that Barbara did with the Go-Luckys (that I booked!), we were able to get them on KDVS for a guest DJ spot the year before. They talk about their new album, 28th Day, the Press Club show that night (that is on this channel/website- Barbara gets electrocuted!). They go on to play their favorite bands and play songs from a bunch of albums. It’s a really fun listen.

Side note- nerd talk alert- today is a good day. A couple months back, Youtube stopped uploading my audio AVI’s. It would just bonk when it tried to process the .avi. So, instead of me using the EASY virtualdub workflow (2min of processing time), I had to use Vegas Pro which would take up to 2 HOURS and hog up my system’s time to do other stuff. Well, I decided to give virtualdub another try today, and Youtube must have fixed their issue. Thank goodness, that Vegas method was a huge pain in the ass. I’ll be able to get more stuff done now in my hour each day reserved for this.

The Peeping Toms- Live in KDVS Studio Multicam Video 1990-2000ish

I thought I had already digitized all of Jordan’s VHS tapes. I thought that this was audio only, and discovered a proshot video! I had no idea KDVS did this- was this public access? Are there any more proshot KDVS videos? So many questions.
