Redrum- Club Me, Sacramento Ca. 1/15/89 Master Soundboard Audio Only Thrash Metal

So I got back in touch with Bobby Whitright a couple of days ago and he was looking for a specific Redrum show. Since I was listening to this one, I decided to post it as well. Taped from the soundboard on a high bias cassette. Club Me became the Cattle Club shortly after this show. Great covers of Misfits and Iron Maiden toward the end of the set. The mix settles down and while it is imperfect, it ain’t bad.

Redrum- Club Me, Sacramento Ca. 1/15/89 xfer from master videotape Enhanced with soundboard Audio

Here’s a fun one that is vastly improved with all of the enhancements. This might have been the last time I saw Redrum with the Bobby and Jeff lineup. Show stops about halfway through so Vonni can have a bathroom break… and I follow him into the bathroom for a quick interview. What was I thinking?
We tried to enhance the board tape to bring up guitars, but Jeff’s bass is at the same frequency as the guitar so when I boost guitar, I get an annoying bass “pluck” which is unlistenable at the end. So, you get the raw board tape. It’s not too bad.

Vomit Launch- Club Me, Sacramento 12/17/88 Enhanced Master w/improved audio

I heard Vomit Launch for the first time, opening a Stewart Katz show- it may have been a 7 seconds show in late 1986 and I liked them immediately. I think that this was their first Sacramento appearance after I bought my camera- back in the Clint/Jeff O’Toole/Greg Dean promoter gap between Stewart and Brian & Jerry.
I took my master and brightened it and de-noised it, then added “Anonymous”‘s audio, courtesy of an Aiwa handheld recorder with stock mic? Or it may have been a Sony ECM909 at this point. Anyway, it sounded better than my stock mic.

Bliss- Club Me, Sacramento Ca. 12/17/88 Enhanced master video with Soundboard Audio

***NOTE: Forward the video to about 10min for soundboard audio***
I saw Bliss open up that drunken AVM show in August of 1988 and was hooked immediately- they were reminiscent of the more obscure SST stuff like Abecedarians, Always August, etc. Brandon even had the Greg Ginn style clear plexi guitar!
Me and “Anonymous” went to Club Me (pre cattle club) to check Bliss and Vomit Launch out. We got the OK to do a soundboard.
My friend Sam (Thehappyone on youtube) did the audio synch on these. It is not easy to synch multiple analog sources. Thank you.

D.O.A. – Club Me, Sacramento Ca. 12/8/88 xfer from master tape! Punk

Man, I could have sworn that this was a Cattle Club show, but I guess not. This was kind of a funny story- I always asked permission from the bands to film back then. At this show, I had gotten to know the promoter pretty well so he goes up to Joey introduces me and kind of “tells” him that I am videotaping. Joey had this “who the hell is this kid” look on his face. Classic!

D.O.A.- Club Me, Sacramento Ca. 12/8/88 Enhanced xfer from master Live D.O.A. pre- Cattle Club

I am really enjoying enhancing these old videos. Thanks Jim.
Anyway, I remember this show pretty clearly. I remember the promoter (Clint? Jeff O’Toole? Greg Gregory Dean?) vouching for me and Joey giving a begrudging OK, then blurting out “who the hell is this kid?”. Haha.

fIREHOSE- Club Me, Sacramento Ca. 11/19/88 Direct xfer from master

This was the first of 6 or 7 fIREHOSE shows I filmed. The venue was called “Club Obsession”, then “Club Me”, then finally Cattle Club during the glory years. This was before Jerry and Brian’s time, a guy named Clint booked the show. Filmed with an Aiwa CV80 and stock mic. A little dark but not too bad.

Firehose- Club Me, Sacramento Ca. 11/19/88 xfer from master tape with improved audio enhanced live

Here’s another new post of an old show. The original audio of this video is complete garbage, the high end distrotion on the audio track made it unlistenable. We have taken Anonymous’ better audio and remixed/synched it with the enhanced video. Massive improvement. I think that this is fIREHOSE’s first appearance in Sacramento. At least, it was the first one I knew about.
