Chris Isaak and Kenney Dale Johnson- Live 105 Green Xmas, Hyatt Regency, SF 12/22/91 xfer f/FM tape

Here is one from Tony Philputt’s audio cassette collection. Phil Go donated these to the Sac Music Archive nonprofit a few months back. Thanks Phil!

This tape is a mystery. I searched every way I could imagine for Chris and Kenney at Live 105 Green Xmas and nothing comes up. If anyone has a date and/or venue for this one, let me know. Chris did say that “Wicked Game” was going to be on the next album… but where is Jimmy then? Heart shaped world came out in 1989, so this would put this at 1988. But I don’t think Green Xmas was even happening then. So many questions.

I know Christmas just happened, but listen anyway. Only one cheezy xmas number

Chris Isaak- Rheem Theater, Moraga Ca 12/1/89 Lossless xfer from 8mm Master Video w/ Jimmy Wilsey

I get daily emails with listings for local estate sales and most of them have the usual stuff- old cookware, vintage clothing & accessories, and general stuff that I don’t need. So I get this listing in my email last week and there are hundreds of photos of the usual things, and then toward the bottom there is a photo of an autographed Buck Naked and the Bare Bottom boys, along with a lot of other autographed memorabilia from people like John Denver. What the heck?
Work was nuts last week so I could not make it over there in time for the Buck Naked LP (dammit Robert Mckeown), but oh man what an amazing collection. I have never seen someone with such a deep collection of just a small handful of artists- personally autographed items from Alan Jackson, thanking “Laurie” for believing in him before he was popular; a ton of Chris Isaak autographed stuff, and these 4 8mm tapes that were by the door where you pay. I knew right away what they were and snapped them up.

Obviously filmed with permission

R.I.P. Laurie Vilarich and Jimmy Wilsey.

Chris Isaak- Coach House, San Juan Capistrano Ca 7/7/90 lossless xfer from 8mm master tape enhanced

Here is the last Chris Isaak video from Laurie Vilarich’s estate, and this one is the best in my opinion. Laurie set up in the upstairs area- I have been up there and it is a great place to video. Complete show (over 2 hours) and sound isn’t awful. Good stuff. Thanks Laurie.

Chris Isaak- Mississippi Nights, St. Louis Mo. 4/30/87 Multicam Proshot KDHX

Since work OWNED me yesterday (until 9:30pm), here is yesterday’s post. I’ll try to get 1 more up later today.

I was unaware of this, but this appears to be unaired. There is no title screen at the beginning like all of the other shows that were on KDHX, and it ends abruptly without credits. This vid has Jimmy Wilsey front and center (along with Chris of course) just SHREDDING. Just an amazing document from way back. Penelope Houston might appreciate this one.

Chris Isaak- Radisson Hotel, Sacramento Ca. 1/1/87? xfer from 8mm Master Tape

Here is another one from Laurie Vilarich’s amazing collection. I am doubtful of the date- 8mm camcorders were not super common in early 87, but that is the only Chris Isaak show at the Radisson that I can find. Camerawork is a bit shaky- I should run this through deshaker sometime- it definitely needs it.

It’s still an amazing document of Isaak with Wilsey still on guitar.
