CHRCH- Blue Lamp, Sacramento Ca. 7/5/19 Live 4K HD Video w/ Rode Videomic Pro Stereo

Man, it has been over a year since I saw CHRCH play. They are always slow and heavy, like a heavy blanket.. that tries to smother and kill you… or maybe it was so heavy that I was having a slight panic attack. Whichever it was, I couldn’t breathe. That’s heavy!
Since the last time I saw them, I got this cool new camera that records really well in low lighting, and in red lighting, and in 4k. I like how this one turned out.

Usnea- Blue Lamp, Sacramento Ca. 7/5/19 HD Master Live Video Death Funeral Doom

Usnea came from Oregon to do this run of shows with CHRCH. They are on Relapse Records and they are a perfect match to play with CHRCH. Their 6 song album is about an hour long. I like the 2 vocalists- it’s like Extreme Noise Terror, but slower.
I forgot my good mic so audio is courtesy of the stock mic on the new DSLR. It is not as bad as I expected. The MVP of the night is my wife, who drove the Rode mic from Orangevale to the Blue Lamp. That’s why this video cuts at about 40:00 and resumes with better audio. I ran out in the middle of Alhambra Blvd with my camera in hand to get the mic as she drove by. The last 5min sound great!

Chrome Ghost- Blue Lamp, Sacramento Ca. 7/5/19 Live HD Master

This was my first time seeing the “real” Chrome Ghost. I saw them as Nirvana on Halloween last year and it was good. They were totally amazing! Sludge/Doom with a good vocalist- I’ll definitely be checking them out again.

So I got yet another new 4k camera. I hated the Sony so I just went for it and got the one I really wanted- the Panasonic GH5S. This was the first time I was able to get useful video from it… and I forgot to put the setting on 4k for Chrome Ghost and Usnea. Damnit. I also forgot my good mic for Chrome Ghost and Usnea, so audio is only “OK” for the first 2 bands that night.

Peace Killers- Blue Lamp, Sacramento Ca. 6/19/19 Live 4k UHD Rode Audio

So this was the first time I attempted to use the new Lumix GH5S and I managed to screw everything up. First, I didn’t realize that the camera had to be stopped (not recording) to adjust audio levels, so they were recorded EXTREMELY low. I also attempted to use my old Canon lens with an adapter and the combo would not hold focus on the new camera. So out with that gear and in with a new lens.
I then ran it through handbrake to try to boost the levels. It is now audible, but MKV compressed the file from 35gb down to 2gb, so you see some pixelation in the dark areas. GRRR!
I contemplated not posting it at all, but it is a great performance.. and Peace Killers are the best rock band in town. I don’t understand why they are not packing a harlow’s sized venue on the regular.

Freak Accident- Blue Lamp, Sacramento Ca. 1/11/19 Multicam Live video with enhanced soundboard audio

Here’s yet another newly edited multicam show from the Blue Lamp. I was able to enhance the board tape a bit and bring the guitars up- it starts to sound better about 10-15min in.
The Freak Accident is Ralph Spight’s main band. He is also in Victim’s family. Eric Strand (former Victim’s family, now Roadside Bombs) plays drums. It’s a little different than Victim’s Family, but still great and Ralph still holds guitar and vocal duties in the band.

Equipment used: Canon HFG40x2, Canon HFG30.
Soundboard with Sony PCM-M10
Enhancements in Izotope Rz7 (guitar/bass boost), Adobe Premiere Elements and neat video.

Victims Family- Blue Lamp, Sacramento Ca. 1/11/19 Multicam with Matrix Audio LIVE

I’m late today! Here is a NEWLY EDITED video from the beloved Blue Lamp (RIP). We held this one back, since the audio was less than perfect and some of the angles were pretty badly overexposed. We were able to clean these up pretty well and the matrix audio came out great.

Equipment used: Canon HFG30, Canon HFG40 x2.
Audio recorded through soundboard with Sony PCM-M10 and matrix with Canon HFG40 audio.

The Hajj- Blue Lamp, Sacramento 1/9/19 Canon HFG40 Rode Master Live Video

Here is The Hajj’s set- they opened the Radolescents West Coast tour. Interesting band- 2 members- guitar and drums only. They play that OC sounding punk but thrasier than most. These guys are Rikk’s pet project it seems, so you can expect an album soon. I tried to find their music online and it was not easy to find anythig substantial.
