Beatnigs- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca 4/8/89 xfer from 1st gen soundboard cassette Michael Franti

It looks like we can squeeze in an Eggplant post this week! More KALX coming next week.
Here is another Tall Tim board tape- the mix was nice, but it was light in vocals and a couple other areas (my PC blue screened before I captured the Izotope settings), I think it sounds pretty good for all that’s going on onstage at a Beatnigs show.
For the uninitiated, Beatnigs were Franti’s early band. You won’t hear “sound of sunshine” here! Discogs has this to say about them: Combined hardcore punk, industrial and hip hop influences, described as an avant-garde industrial jazz poets collective. Michael Franti and Rono Tse went on to form The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy, Kevin Carnes later founded Broun Fellinis.

Rebalance in Izotope Rx8: Vocals up, and I think I boosted drums.

It’s time for a bonus post! Today’s Patreon Voter’s Choice was a runaway vote winner this week. The theme was “Pick a 924 Gilman video”, since I ran a pivot table on my video list for the most-filmed venue in the collection, and it was Gilman by more than 2x! Expect a couple more “Pick a Gilman video” polls in the future. This week’s vote will be “Pick a leap year show” so I can complete the On This Date project for every possible date on the calendar.
