I don’t know how many people know this, but I was the first “deadhead-like” guy who followed Uncle Tupelo around and recorded their concerts back in 1992. I did a week in the midwest, then a week in california in early 1993, then their last shows in 1994.
So, I realized that I had NEVER seen Jay solo before. I saw Son Volt a ton of times, but never Jay.. so I ventured out to the show. It was exactly what I expected. A polished performance, but not too dynamic. 🙂
I got shut down about an hour into the set. This was the second time I was shut down by their tour manager. I guess being the first guy to film doesn’t buy me anything now. Meh. I tried to ask permission…

And finally, here is Pounded Clown’s set from the blue lamp. They were very entertaining- I love the video thumbnail.. and I know you got that at the 99 cent store, you cheapskate!

Here’s another appearance by the Sewer Trout Experience. They debuted at The Lookouting last January, and they have played a couple of shows since then. They dont have any regular Sewer Trout members in the band, but Hal does come up and help with burping on occasion.
They were well-received in Sewer Trout’s hometown, which was pretty cool.

Second on the bill were The Bananas. They were totally bananas! I forgot to mention- Blue Lamp has new lighting thanks to AJ and the rest of the folks there and it looks great!

What a fun night with a killer lineup– a 4 band bill — and I really wanted to see all 4! First up was Cringeworthy. They were billed as a Cringer tribute band, but I think that is a bit harsh- Kamala was in the original band, and she was the drummer for Cringeworthy. Best performance I have seen by them to date.
I got there 1 minute before they started playing. Cutting the whole “being a dad/rock video guy” dichotomy a little close.

I sure do appreciate Gabi & Ben taking risks and bringing legendary bands to the Blue Lamp, such as this show with NYHC legends Leeway. Eddie was super cool and appreciative of the small crowd- it was so nice to meet him.
Thanks to Zoran for the use of his angle – I only had 2 angles of the show, so his angle filled things out nicely.
Thanks to Tromster for the edit- looks great!
