So sacramento’s renaissance man/doom master Chris Lemos celebrated his birthday yesterday. Man, he is pretty popular because there were a lot of people there for a Wednesday night. Even though Chris was drinking beer the entire time I saw him, he never seemed drunk. Amazing! Here is most of the XTOM HANX set from last night. Wonderful version of “Carry on My Wayward Son” in there somewhere.

Here is Banger’s set from Blue Lamp on Saturday. They were one of the last bands to play, so the crowd had thinned a bit. I learned that the blue lamp has a lighting system that is turned on, or turned off- there is no in between. So, Banger asked for the front lights to be turned down… so they are a bit dark.
Band features Bill Heston from Identity Crysis- a local punk band who was on mystic records back in the 80s.

A couple of different music scenes came together last night to play a benefit for the Blue Lamp. It was cool to see hip hop and punk scenes together in one venue- the schedule had one hip hop act, then one punk act. The O’Mulligans played and the hip hop crowd was “meh”…. UNTIL the last song “She Hate Me” and everyone- especially the hip hop guys got on their feet and started cheering. Definitely the coolest spontaneous musical moment of the year so far.
