I decided to go to Orion Fest in 2012 for 2 reasons- the really good (and surprisingly diverse) lineup, and to see Metallica play Ride the Lightning in its entirety for the first time ever. Here is that Metallica performance.

I am a little embarrassed about the camera work here- I had not been video’ing concerts much since my hiatus in 2002, and I had never been very good at doing large shows. The HF200 did not have stabilzation, so it is shaky. You can see me getting lost many times, trying to find band members on the massive stage. I was also super excited to see this show, so my camerawork is a little too aggressive and I zoom up way too much, way too often. That, along with the fact that this show was already shared as a multicamera (satellite feed) online, caused me to bury this one until now… but some people prefer these audience shots, so here you go.

In hindsight, if I knew that the multicam was going to be available, I would have focused on video’ing all of the other bands during the day.
