Oh wow- I pulled this DAT to work up for today’s On This Date in History and it sounds really nice after an EQ job. According to my list, I got this from the taper but the only person I recall trading tape with in Japan at the time was Saki Honma. I don’t recall her using bass-heavy mics such as these. Maybe she did later on. Hm.
The raw tape was a bit heavy on bass and lacking in low end, so I really pushed the EQ and I am really happy with it. Oftentimes, the midrange and high end get so overpowered by the bass that an EQ like this won’t work.
