Here’s one that I taped with the DAT machine a little over 27 years ago. I missed the first 4 songs, and I can’t remember exactly why. I recall being super tired(I went to both Palace shows the 2 nights before and went to work during the day) and getting stuck in bad L.A. weekend traffic. It was a long drive- it would have been 3.5 hours with no traffic and I think it took me about 5hrs to get ther. I must have come in late. Shoutout to Remko for plugging me right in to the soundboard.
It was an odd show. I remember it being very loose- to the point that the band were having a “make your instrument fart” contest between songs. The DAT machine I used to record the show was out of alignment (they would break down about every 6 months) and it had some static when I had played it in the past, but I don’t hear it on this transfer. Sony PCM-R500 for the win!
I rebalanced this in Izotope to bring up vocals and guitar. I thought about re-doing it, but the vocals come up later in the set. Good enough.
Oh, and check out that ticket stub. $10 with a $3 fee, and I bought the ticket less than 2 weeks before the show. That’s quite a bit different than buying $100 tickets a year in advance…
