I will let Discogs tell the story of this band, since it is probably better than what I could explain:

Melodic punk / hardcore band from Staten Island, New York – USA.

Originally known as Sleeper (3), the band was offered $125,000 for the exclusive US rights to the name by a UK-based band of the same name, Sleeper (2). Sleeper (3) accepted the offer, and thus changed its name to Serpico.
