I started a new project while working from home- digitizing my DAT masters and DATs that are uncirculated. Here is DAT #1.
This is the first show I ever recorded on DAT. As soon as portable DAT machines’ price point dropped below $1000, I grabbed one. I got the Sony TCD-D3 shipped to work on 6/28/91 and wasted no time going to a show to try it out that weekend. I am so glad that D.I. happened to be playing, as they are one of my all-time favorite bands. Great long set which includes covers by Devo, Gary Glitter and The Ramones.
Eric Bianchi did a great job with the mix- the guitar and bass were slightly low but everything was there and the mix was consistent. I was able to rebalance this in Isotope and bring up the instruments and drop the vocals a bit. Mix sounds great now- thanks Eric!

Recorded by: Shayne Stacy
Equipment used: Sony TCD-D3 into soundboard
Transfer with Sony PCM-R500 and M-Audio Audipphile 2496 card
Rebalance in Izotope (Vocal -1, Bass +4, Drums +3, Guitar +6)
