I digitized a VHS tape from Tony Philputt’s collection and some of the sets were already online, so I opted for 2 short ones that are not online at all. Tony got the tape from a guy named Greg Fasolino and for a while Greg was posting a bunch of his archival videos, including Big Black from this night. Then, about 3 years ago, he stopped posting archival stuff. Kind of a bummer.
This one is only 5 minutes long and it is pretty obstructed but there are not many videos of the band available. If you haven’t heard of them, Happy Flowers combined improvisational noise punk guitar and drums with lyrics often written in the first person from the perspective of a child, with childlike intonation and grammar. Their humorous songs are mainly about freak childhood accidents and common childhood gripes
