The Dickies- Live 1985 Flipside Video no. 6 xfer from VHS Master Enhanced Punk

I have had this one uploaded on YT for about 6 weeks, hoping to figure out what the venue/exact date is. I have had no luck. All references to Flipside Video #6 just says “Live 1985”. If anyone has any detail about the show, let me know.

Donner Party- The Donners Demo mid 1980s xfer f/Band Archive cassette Indie Pitch a Tent Quasi

It’s the Patreon Voter’s Choice! This is a weekly thing where my Patreon subscribers get to vote on what is posted. I have to admit, I was shocked that this actually won the vote. I was thrilled that it won, but shocked.

If you like this, 8 of these tracks are on the NEW reissue LP of Donner Party’s self-titled debut LP. They are bonus demo tracks to accompany a repress of the debut album. The reissue was released by a european label and I could not find a copy without paying a ton of money for shipping… but I was eventually able to find one from Ebay/Deep Discount CD, believe it or not. I think Target even had it on their website. What the heck? Anyway, if you like this, buy the LP. It should sound better on the record. My LP should be here tomorrow.

Half-Life: Demo/Self released Cassette Album 1985 w/2 members of Mx-80 Sound xfer f/master demo tape

NEW Collection today! Phil Go reached out to me a while back and let me know that he had 23 boxes of tapes that he wanted to donate to the Sacramento Music Archive. 21 boxes of videos and 2 boxes of audio tapes. It took us months to connect- I fractured my wrist and could not lift anything, and then finding time to get over to his place took a while… but I am so glad I did! What a killer collection!!

A lot of Phil’s tapes came from my old trading friend Tony Philputt. Tony gave them to Phil when they both lived in Southern Cal. I need to wait until the TBC comes back before I start digitizing video, so let’s start with this. Lots more to come.

The 2 co-founding members MX-80 sound (Bassist Dale Sophiea and Guitarist Bruce Anderson) formed Half-Life in the mid-1980s and this appears to be their only release.

A huge thanks to Phil and Tony for the contribution to the archive!

Fang and Tales of Terror- “Concert” Cassette, sometime in 1980s Punk Sam McBride Sammytown Rats Ass

It’s audience participation time! This one comes from Chris Eng’s collection, and as you can see, details are scarce. If anyone can help identify date, venue, city or anything at all, please let me know.

UPDATE: Holy crap we seem to have a pretty special one today. Like I said earlier today, I was running behind so I didn’t check this one closely. I had to work the last 2 songs as they sounded way different than the rest of the set, and that was because they were the only 2 Fang songs! The rest is a Tales of Terror set!!! I have never heard any decent quality ToT audience tapes, and the way that the levels are adjusted at the start it seems like a pro walkman kind of deal.

On the fang part, from Tom Flynn (band member): “the first 21 minutes of that tape is not Fang, it’s Tales of Terror. Fang is only the last song and a half. I know we played with Dead Kennedy’s at On Broadway in 1982, but I can tell by the drumming that this is not from back then. So has to be some other random show from 83 or 84.”. Any help on the ToT would be appreciated.

Metallica- Master of Puppets Instrumental Rehearsals 1985 xfer from unknown gen audio cassette

It’s Tour Manager Doug Tuesday!
This one has been in draft mode on the youtube channel for 5 months. Since it was hissy and a little sped up, I wasn’t sure if it was worth posting. I also did a quick check Shazam back then and Disposable Heroes came up as already being on the Master of Puppets box set, so I assumed this was already released. I came back to it this morning and performed a deeper check on it, and the rest do not seem to be released. There is so much Metallica out there, it was hard to know if this was unique. So I figured what the hell, let’s post it and the hardcore fans/collectors will tell me if it is anything special.
I have one more Tour Manager Doug tape for next week, and that’s it.. unless he gives me more tapes.

Attitude Adjustment- Rehearsal 1985 xfer from unknown gen audio cassette hardcore

What a chaotic day- here’s a short one for you. This was on the same tape as the Suicidal that I posted yesterday and it sounds different than the other 4 track rehearsal tape I posted a while back, and it is shorter. Hopefully Eric McIntire will have more context about the session.
