Willie Nelson w/ Symphony- West Point Rehearsal Early 1995 xfer from DAT Master sbd clone

This was supposed to be yesterday’s Mediocre Monday post, but I was travelling and my laptop conked out. Nothing like calling tech assistance at midnight, trying to fix your laptop for meetings first thing in the morning!

Anyway, this qualified for Mediocre Monday because even though it is nice quality and the arrangements are unique, it is pretty damn boring. This is most likely a rehearsal for Willie’s shows in early 1995 when he was backed by a symphony. Those actual shows are GREAT- we have one from the Beacon Theatre that will get posted soon and is a really nice listen.
This is another one from DAT trades with Damon Bramblett in the 90s.
One more post coming today

Willie Nelson- King Center for the Performing Arts, Melbourne FL 1/19/95 xfer from DAT Sbd Clone

Here’s another nice quality soundboard clone, courtesy of a trade with Damon Bramblett back in the 90s. It sounds like it cuts in mid-set, and the length of the show is a bit shorter than what was typical for the time. So, assume that this show is incomplete.
Man, it must be a pretty sweet deal to play the performing arts centers and casinos around the country. Good for Willie.

Willie Nelson- Kennedy Center, Washington DC January 1995 Clone of DAT Soundboard Complete Show

I caught up with a trading friend from the ’90s. Damon Bramblett was the man with the Johnny Cash audience recordings and these- a treasure trove of Willie Nelson DAT soundboards. He was friends with someone close to Willie, possibly his soundman.. and he has a ton of these recordings. I got about 8? DATs full of them, but that was about it. Damon asked me to digitize some of my copies of the tapes for him, this is the first one.
It sounds pretty nice except for a burst of digi-noise at about the 41:00 markā€¦ thanks to these cheap DATs.
Let me tell you a little about DATs back then- they were expensive. The audio ones cost about $9 each ($5-6 in bulk), but you could find DDS (digital data storage) tapes that would work as audio tapes for WAY cheaper($3). The absolute cheapest/crappiest tapes were DICs. It was common to try to play back a DIC and have problems- to this day, I call them f*cking DICs.

Willie Nelson- Unknown 1994 or 1995 xfer from DAT Soundboard Master Clone Incomplete

Since I blew my posting wad on video on Friday and Saturday, here is more Willie (from Damon Bramblett via Willie’s soundman) for a Sunday evening. Just FYI- I have only done 2 DATs worth of Willie boards so far, and it has had all of these shows on them. There is a lot still to go.

Willie Nelson- Wolverhampton Civic Hall, England 10/30/94 xfer DAT Master Soundboard Clone Full Show

Here is the last Willie show for a while- there are many more, but I haven’t pulled anything off of those DATs yet. Thanks to Damon Bramblett for sharing these 25+ years ago! These were recorded by Willie’s soundman, then given to Damon and cloned for me.
