Crimpshrine- WFMU, E. Orange NJ 8/25/88 xfer from 1st gen audio cassette East Bay Punk

This was another random pull that I noticed while looking for another tape. I saw that this is already on youtube, but in lesser quality. I got this from George Norton, who taped it off the radio. Thanks George!
This is such a great performance, loved these guys. Big thanks to Pat Duncan and WFMU for bringing little known bands (at the time) to play in studio.

Adrenalin O.D.- WFMU Live in Studio, E Orange NJ 6/11/87 xfer f/ 1st gen audio tape AOD A.O.D. NYHC

I didn’t have time to transfer a tape for today’s post so I poked around the hard drive and found this classic. I digitized some tapes for the AOD reissues and this one didn’t get used, but I really loved the WFMU in studio sets. The one from 1985 with White Flag is the best one, I think. I might have listened to that tape more than their albums.
The quality on this one is decent, but you can tell that they were playing pretty loud in the studio. This performance was just before their US tour in the summer of 87. Sounds like it may be one of the first shows with Keith Hartel (he is referred to as the new kid).

Adrenalin O.D. / White Flag- WFMU Live in Studio, E Orange NJ 5/15/86 xfer f/ band archive cassette

Here’s a nice surprise for On This Date in History. I knew I had posted the White Flag portion of this before so I was checking the archived spindles for tape #314, since it had to be digitized already… but it wasn’t there. Some searches of the 2 RAIDs led me to it- I hadn’t digitized my tape, I had digitized Bruce Wingate’s better quality tape!

So enjoy this better quality version of White Flag plus the (main) AOD portion. This was one of my all time favorite tapes that I traded for, so big thanks to George Norton of sending it my way back in 1986! And of course thanks to Bruce for trusting me with his stuff a couple years ago.

I can’t remember the details, but White Flag was in studio and hopped on AOD’s gear and then had to hurry to catch a flight.. that they barely made? Missed? Can’t remember.

As I was writing this up, I realized that Paul’s vocals were buried. In fact, the mix was super heavy on guitar.. so I rebalanced it and reuploaded it. Enjoy!

I wore this recording out when I got it from George Norton back in 1986. This and the AOD set from this broadcast were both great. Bruce and Dave, what is the background on this one? Did White Flag just jump in on your guys’ equipment and play before heading to the airport to go to Europe. This definitely has a similar guitar tone to the AOD set.
