Wayne Kramer- John Sinclair Benefit, Spaceland, Los Angeles Ca 2/28/00 xfer from 1st gen VHS Tape

More VHS transfers now that Adobe is working again! This is from Todd Nakamine’s collection. Like I mentioned before, it is always a fun treasure hunt going through Todd’s tapes.

This one doesn’t have any date or lineage listed, but it is probably a 1st generation copy off the master. I looked through newspapers dot com and could not find any mention of a John Sinclair benefit at Spaceland. Maybe Dan Johnson can help ID it- he is the man with the Kramer Spaceland residency audio recordings! From Wayne’s appearance, it was probably late 90s or 2000’s.

Wayne Kramer (from MC5)- Rhino Records, Westwood Ca. 5/18/95

I know, everyone wants local bands or touring bands playing Cattle Club. This one is my choice. 🙂 This was, without a doubt, the loudest concert I have ever seen in a record store. It gets louder and louder, and you can tell as my mic starts to distort. I forgot I was this close to them while filming. ML Compton- were you working at Rhino at this time? Hour long set in a record store. Awesome.

Wayne Kramer- Rhino Records, Los Angeles 5/18/95 xfer from master videotape with DAT Audio MC5

Here’s a post with purpose. This guy, Wayne Kramer(original member of the MC5) is coming to Harlow’s tonight to play tracks from MC5’s catalog, along with some new songs from an upcoming MC5 release.
Shockingly, the show has not sold out yet. Harlow’s looks to be the smallest venue of the 2 week tour, and tickets are available at the door. You won’t want to miss this one.
OK, to the video. This in-store was to celebrate/promote the release of The Hard Stuff, released in 95. It remains the loudest in-store I have ever attended. I had posted this before, but the camera audio was distorted- this DAT audio sounds much better, albeit without much vocal in the mix.
I had always thought that I filmed this set, but you can see my plump, dress shirt and big eyeglass wearing ass fiddling with the DAT machine at the end of the set. I guess Todd filmed it. Thanks, Todd!
Oh, and if you have read this far: if you go to the show, seek me (Shayne) out and I will buy you a beer from the bar. I have this $100 gift card that I bought to help venues while closed and I can’t seem to get rid of it.
