The Accused- Payne Field, Everett Wa 4/12/86 xfer from unknown gen audio cassette splatter rock punk

After much ado, here is one from Chris Eng’s collection. I thought I had one ready from him on Monday, only to see that Lord Pryderi already posted it. Then it was a hunt through his boxes of tapes for something that hadn’t been posted before. I found a few, but here is one that I enjoyed.
Here’s a show from The Accused during my favorite era- Return of Martha Splatterhead. The channel separation and the lack of distortion makes it sounds like it was recorded on one of those old boom boxes with decent mics. Not saying it sounds particularly great, but it’s not bad and a very early show.

Note: Show was moved to Payne field according to Blaine Cook… and he should know

Exodus- Mountaineers Lodge, Seattle Wa 8/3/85 xfer f/unknown gen audio cassette

I just finished digitizing another handful of Chris Eng’s audio cassettes and this one was in the stack. Since Exodus is playing The Mab tomorrow, I guess now is a good time to post it. I hope they come out and play a circa 1984 set. Oh, my friend needs a ticket in case anyone has an extra. Hopefully that’s buried enough in the text to keep the scam bots out of comments, haha.

Chris doesn’t recall who he got this from, but it does sound decent and there is not much tape hiss. Did they really have Megadeth opening this show? Odd flyer billing. Flyer courtesy of Hector Kirckwood

Wild Dogs- Mountaineers, Seattle Wa 6/29/84 xfer from master audio tape PNW Power Metal

Back to Doug’s archive of tapes for today. This one needed no EQ at all- it is the best sounding Doug tape so far. Doug traveled with Slayer up to their shows in Portland and Seattle in 1984- I have some awesome tour photos to share with the upcoming Slayer posts of these shows. Thanks Doug!
Back in the early 80s, these guys had a decent amount of buzz going- that first album on Shrapnel was listened to a bunch in my circles. They put out 3 records from 83-87 then fizzled out, reuniting in 2004.

Metal Church- Mountaineers, Seattle Wa 6/29/84 xfer from master audio tape

Here is another nice sounding Doug tape. Man, it is awesome to hear how these old shows are coming out. Some people were asking about MC’s opening slots when I posted the Slayer show.. here it is…
I can’t put my finger on why I loved this band so much, but they were one of my favorites. I think the lyrics hit me more so than a lot of bands at the time.. and was probably an early gateway into those anti-nuclear punk bands like Crucifix and Discharge.
Some folks were complaining about someone clearly using a stolen image from a Baron Rojo album for this flyer- I didn’t make it, I just use it for the post. It’s been 39 years, so maybe the statute of limitations has run out on flyer image theft.

It’s tour manager Doug Tuesday! Here is one that has been requested by some people on YouTube after I posted some of the other PNW Slayer shows, so it is highly anticipated by some folks. It’s a little tinny but listenable.
