I am not usually a tribute band kind of guy, but these guys were spectacular! It was nice to hear high energy versions of the songs I grew up with. Special bonus- the band has Danny from Knockoffs/Secretions on guitar/vocals and Bear from Sitting & Waiting, Final Summation and more kicking ASS on drums!

Happy Monday again! Mondays are different when you don’t work- they are actually pleasant! We are winding down the 1993 KROQ Xmas posts- this will be the last week of my abusing you with 90s alternative.. for now.
Over the next few weeks (weekdays), I will be posting sets from the 1993 Almost Acoustic Xmas. On the night of Dec 11th, I was driving to grab dinner for the family and I turn on KROQ and I hear that they were broadcasting the entire show live on the radio! I listened to KROQ regularly back then and did not recall any advertising for the broadcast. I hauled ass back home and grabbed a DAT and started recording. I was broke back then, so I have these sets scattered over about 5 DATs. I think I only lost a couple minutes of one set due to tape change- General Public. I even was able to edit in the interviews from other sections of the tape. The Blind Melon interview is a sad foreshadow of their future. Anyway, hope you enjoy these. I became a fan of at least a few of these bands through this broadcast.

More amazing stuff rom Dave Carness’ collection. This is another example of a legendary show/venue only existing in flyers and images… until now. This one sounds pretty decent for the time and venue. This place was a huge room with hard surfaces, so not the best acoustics. I have a boombox recording of redrum from this room in 1987 when it was called Hardin hall and it sounds like ass. So good on Dave for getting up close to the PA.
