Strange Party- The Stag, Woodland Ca. 11/11/17 Multicam with Rode Audio Sacramento Horror Punk

Thanks to my friend Agelos for helping with a bunch of multicamera edits of our amazing local bands. I don’t think it is a secret that The Strange Party were one of my favorites. Here’s yet another video of them- this one from the same show as the Red Pills that I posted the other day.
I screwed up and let my battery die so the audio is cut between the “good mic” and the stock mic on the other camera. Thanks to Agelos for the audio splice work!

The Strange Party- The Stag, Woodland Ca. 10/28/16 Pt. 1

After the Drowning Adam show, I took off and headed to Woodland to see one of my favorite local bands, The Strange Party. I had never been to the stag and wow, what a place. It was “Dead Guy Ale” promotion night where you could get refills for $3 and people were extremely drunk. The place is about 100 feet long and 15 feet wide, so you got to know your neighbors well. Also had a fun discussion with Cory about the old metal days. I guess he now knows better than to start a conversation about that! Ha ha. Strange Party sounded great and they are going into the studio today to record a proper album at Earthtone. Did you hear that, Matt Bennett?

Barbara Manning & Champion- Stag Bar, Woodland Ca 10/18/08 Matrix Audio Master-CDR Complete SF Seals

I was going to digitize a Government Issue cassette for today’s On This Date in History, and then I saw this one. Big thanks to Anonymous for getting out to Woodland to record this show- I was newly married at the time and had a conflict and had to miss the show.

This show is special for 2 reasons, IMHO. First, The Stag is a tough place to get a good sounding tape. The bar is like a long wide hallway with a bar at the front, and about a 15x15ft floor area in the back for bands to play. The ceilings seem to be at least 20ft high back there. The PA is small. All of those factors usually mean that it isn’t gonna sound good in there. Anonymous made a big effort to make this as good as possible. He put mics on stage in front of the band and recorded the vocals through the soundboard, which was all that was mic’d into the board.
Second, this is the only time I ever heard of Barbara playing live with her band at the time, Champion. They had a great songs and a good guitar player, but they broke up shortly after this.

Also, this is probably the best quality you’re gonna get from the Stag.

Equipment used: Beyerdynamic MC930 x2(on stage), R44 through soundboard.
