The Drags- Honey Sucka Pighead Jive Turkey Fool Demo No. 3 8/13/93 xfer f/master cassette Ramones

Last one for today, from Mark Murray’s collection. Keepin’ it local! This one has the 4 songs listed (that IS a Ramones cover) and a bonus unreleased song called “Tower Girl”. Keepin’ with the Tower Records theme today as well.

One last thing about the trip to Portland- I was crazy busy from first thing Saturday morning until I got back at 1pm today. On the plane on Saturday, I started to see aura and took the 1 imitrex (migraine super med) I had with me.. and then I proceeded to have brutal headaches all weekend. I don’t know if it was lack of sleep, lack of food, water or caffeine. It’s the first time I traveled since last November and I have apparently become as delicate as a tomogotchi. Not enough rest? dead. etc. No idea why it happened this time. I had to push a flight this AM because I could not get out of bed. I feel fine now though. Maybe I am allergic to Portland.

The Drags- Demo 2 July 1993 xfer f/ master demo tape Sacramento Citrus Heights punk band The Ramones

Here’s one from Mark Murray’s collection. After I posted a rough mix demo of his band (The Drags) a couple months back from Anonymous 2’s collection, he sent me 3 demos of Drags and stuff from some of his other bands! So, this will be a temporary run of stuff from Mark.

Unlisted 5th track is a Ramones cover. 5 songs AND an intro in 8 minutes!

The Drags- Rough Mix Demo 1993 Sacramento Garage Punk xfer from original demo tape

This one comes from Anonymous 2’s collection of local demos and such. I think this is the Drags that were from Citrus Heights/Sacramento area. There is only a sample of one of the 7″s they released on youtube and I could not match anything from this to that. So hopefully this is unique. I am sure that Mark Murray will let us know, as he was in the band!
I have no song titles, no artwork. What you see is what Anon 2 has. There is a startling amount of tape hiss for being a “master” tape. That’s why I didn’t call this one a master- there’s no way, unless someone has a hiss-producing tape deck out there! Haha.

more info from Mark Murray:
Some notes. This is actually before I joined the band. On this recording (must have been very early 1993) would be Honeyboy Wilson (Jason Dancer) – guitar/vox, Karlo Rossi (Karl Horton) – guitar, Ricky Drag (Rick Perego) – drums/backup vox and ? bass.
I’ve never actually heard this before but it is a raw mix. The final demo has better vocals and sound quality (and less backup vocals) and was titled simply “Demo #1”
Songs:
Cindy & Me (about Cindy Crawford)
Trailer Park Family
I Don’t Miss Her
Alley Trolls
Time Bomb (Sloppy Seconds cover unreleased with super flat backups – there was talk of a Sloppy tribute album at the time…)
We recorded 3 demos and 2 7″s. This is demo #1 rough mix.

The Drags- Demo #1 1993 xfer from master tape Sacramento Punk Sloppy Seconds cover

I posted this demo about a month ago from Anonymous 2’s collection, but Mark Murray (who was in the band) let me know that the one I posted was a rough mix and he had a much better copy. Not only that, but he also had the unreleased Sloppy Seconds cover they did during the session. Thanks Mark! Mark also sent over a few other things from The Drags and other bands, so stay tuned for them.
