The Donnas- KALX Live in Studio, Berkeley Ca. 1/17/98 xfer from pre-fm master cassette Lookout Punk

Here’s one that some folks will enjoy. There is a lot of really cool stuff in Rick Sylvain’s box of tapes that I still need to digitize. It’s nice to hear a quality live set from The Donna’s early days. Thanks Rick!
I figured that since I googled “The Donnas KALX” and Steve’s The List popped up, I would use that as the image for the post. Find the Donnas post in The List! Everyone from those days knows about The List- no explanation necessary.

Audio Live Performance

The Donnas- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca 1/9/98 xfer from VHS tape Lookout Records Punk

It’s Friday, so you get video today. This one comes from the collection of Robert Eggplant. This one tape is so odd- it’s clearly low gen as the edges of the people in the video are sharp, but there are these black lines/shadows that appear. It looks like it might have been done with cheap dubbing cables, or maybe a PAL to VHS issue(see screen message at beginning of set). Too bad, it’s good video.

Live Concert Video

The Donnas- Concert Cafe, Green Bay Wi 8/1/97 xfer from VHS Master Tape Enhanced Lookout Records

I think it has been about 4 years since I posted video from Jason Ross’ collection. Jason was kind enough to send me his live audio and video collections back in 2020. I started digitizing some tapes, but then I got buried with work, family and other tape collections and I paused the project. He has some really awesome master videotapes that will be posted soon! In fact, I should probably re-do the fifteen and AFI videos of his that I already posted- this new lossless setup will do a much cleaner transfer.
Here are the Donnas. This one is on youtube, but it is a glitchy generated mess. This one is right off of Jason’s master and looks killer. Sounds pretty decent as well.
