Here’s one from Barry Ward’s VHS collection. I debated whether I should post this since it is already on Barry’s channel but 1) He asked me to do a better retransfer and 2) the retransfer looks A LOT better than the one that Barry posted. So, here you go.
It’s an odd video. It seems to be done with the house videocamera setup and it looks great for the first 38min. Then something happens where 2 angles are superimposed and you get this view for the next hour. Odd. Still awesome.

Barry Ward gave me a few boxes of tapes a couple years back, and he had this and one other VHS tape marked as a priority. It was in PAL format, so I don’t think he was able to get it digitized until now.
After a LOT of trial and error with Virtualdub, I was finally able to find the right settings to capture this PAL tape. (side note- the higher end the gear, the more manual it is to get set up)
I can’t tell what the writing on the tape says except “RKL” and “Spain”. I thought it said “Garabethe” but there is no venue or city of that name. Maybe “Garage The”? Anyway, hopefully Barry can fill in the blanks around venue, city and date.
RKL is back and they have a bunch of shows scheduled with new vocalist Abe Brennan. Today marks the 19th anniversary of Jason Sears’ passing. R.I.P. to a true legend.

This show is already up on youtube, but this tape seems to be a lot better quality. It makes sense that it would be as it comes from Barry Ward’s collection. Barry was in Texas in the early 80s and then became a member of MDC in recent years.
I think this might be both nights’ shows – as you can see from the Flyer, they played 2 nights at this venue. Decent quality board tape.
