Shellac- Taste of Lincoln Ave, Chicago Il 7/27/97 xfer f/ DAT Clone Audience Full Show Steve Albini

Man, this recording sounds awesome. Vocals are a little low, but it’s really nice. I got it from the taper, but once again I can’t remember who. Maybe Paul Galis? Dunno. Show yourself if it was you, haha.
The tape was marked as being performed at “Lounge Ax Stage” but the newspaper ad says Fullerton Stage. So, I guess I won’t spam the Lounge Ax group unless someone can confirm there really was a Lounge Ax stage at this festival.

Shellac- 1st Avenue, Fargo ND 7/7/96 xfer from 1st gen audio cassette Steve Albini Late Set

I pulled this for today’s On This Date in History for 2 reasons- for one, I got it from the taper Steve Hanson (who I think passed away) and I don’t think a lot of his tapes made it out in circulation.. and two, as a memorial to the Steve in the band.
I rated this tape really badly on my list- VG- usually means “unlistenable garbage”, but it only needed a good EQ to get the harsh high end out of there. The beginning of the tape is a little odd- low levels and not as crisp. It gets better later on.

Shellac- VPRO Villa 65 show Amsterdam Holland 2/15/95 Int/Live Studio xfer 2nd gen tape Steve Albini

I was digitizing a cassette last night for a friend and this show was at the end of tape. I liked it so much, I thought I’d share. This is a great interview with Steve and they do a couple of my favorite Shellac songs live in studio.
