I was planning on posting something different today, but I listened to this last night and realized that today is the anniversary of this show. So we heard through the grapevine(the only way to hear about stuff like this back then) that fIREHOSE were playing their last show ever at a place that was never on the radar for shows..
So I show up and there is hardly anyone there. The place is massive, so they just had everyone come on stage with them and they set up sideways on the stage- meaning they were on one end of the stage, facing the side stage area on the opposite side. It was a very odd experience.
The show was odd as well. It was a bit tense- you can hear Watt stop Ed at one point and ask him to slow it down, since it is the last show. The sound is not great- playing sideways in a huge theater causes a lot of sound issues.
I am surprised that no one has posted anything from this show. There were multiple tapers and video cameras there.
So, yeah, fIREHOSE broke up 27 years ago today.

It’s a late collections post tonight. This one is from my collection. It was a late era cassette trade, after I had primarily stopped trading cassettes and did DAT only. This person taped this set, Circle Jerks from Street Scene in L.A. and a bunch of other rare stuff.. unfortunately, the quality of the recordings are not great. I EQ’d this one to get rid of the shrill high end and boost the bass, but it is still a pretty tough listen until about 3 minutes in.
And look at that schedule. I am not sure if you can see it, but firehose is way at the top left, playing at 10am after mayor Tom Bradley spoke!
