Playing AFTER Pavement at Reading was an ABBA cover band. I had always thought that Bjorn from Abba was in this band with a bunch of hired guns, but I found out yesterday that no, no original Abba members. They sound great for a cover band, and I do love some Abba.

I don’t know who is responsible for the amount of airtime each band received in this hour long special from Japanese TV, but I question the judgment of a person who gives 11min to bjorn again and less than 3min to L7. D’oh. And, like I said yesterday, I love Abba!

Here’s the last of the Reading Fest clips that I am posting. The other 2 bands from the Japanese TV special are Teenage Fanclub (better copy posted on YT already) and Nirvana (commercially released, I think) Love the song selection here.

I was looking at my old VHS tapelist over the weekend, because I could have sworn I had another SNFU Gilman show from 1987 but it must be gone⦠then I saw this tape and figured that would be fun to digitize. Back in the mid-90s, I traded with a lady name Saki Honma. She was the biggest Uncle Tupelo fan in Japan- she even flew from Japan to St. Louis to see Tupelo’s last shows in 1994. She would tape stuff off of Japanese TV (they broadcast KILLER stuff in nice quality) and send it to me. This one is a VHS copy off of her SVHS master. This clip has been posted to youtube 2 other times, but I think this is slightly better quality. I will be posting other bands from this day throughout the week.
