Rancid- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca 2/8/92 xfer f/master soundboard cassette 1st show ever East Bay Punk

Another Monday where I am unprepared to post. That warrants a dip into Radley’s folder of goodies…
This one is labeled as Rancid’s first show ever. I can’t find a flyer online for a show at Gilman on 2/8/92. The mix and levels start off low, then jump up at the 1:40 mark. You will hear a little dip and rise in the levels- that was my attempt at a seamless vol adjustment. Eh, close enough.
No need for a rebalance, really nice mix.

Generator- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca 5/3/91 Xfer f/master VHS tape Tim Matt from Operation Ivy Rancid

Last June, I posted a video of this show from Arica Pelino’s VHS tape. She thought that she taped it, so I labeled it as a master and posted away. A while after that, my old friend Rodney Parker let me know that he actually filmed the show! That led to us discussing/figuring out how we can get these tapes re-transferred with the lossless setup and that finally happened late last year.

So here is a very clean version of the Generator video. There is also a soundboard tape of a different Generator show on the website/channel if you want a better audio experience. Thanks Rodney for sharing the tapes!

Generator was a very short-lived band that Matt Freeman and Tim Armstrong started prior to Rancid, and after Downfall ended. Someone from the band commented with the rest of the band info and I can’t find it. Please let me know so I can update the description.

Downfall- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca. 10/27/89 Audio only soundboard rebalanced Operation Ivy Rancid

Here’s something interesting. Big thanks to Tood Pritchard who came over to the studio last December and pulled out a bunch of cassettes from Jason Ross’ collection that I have not started to list or digitize.
This appears to be Downfall’s first show- some of Lint’s between song banter makes it seem that way. I think this was an opening slot for Bad Religion.

Downfall includes Lint (Tim Armstrong) and Matt Freeman from Rancid and Operation Ivy. Dave Mello plays drums, also from Operation Ivy
