Pixies- Providence Civic Center, RI 3/15/92 xfer from 1st gen audio cassette full complete show U2

Today’s On This Day in History comes from an old tape trading pal from Rhode Island. His name is Phil (no last name, never knew it) and we probably traded about 100 pixies shows over the years. Thanks Phil!
I think Phile had a TCD-D3 professional Walkman. I don’t know the microphone, but it sounds like one of those sony mics.
I was trying to figure out why the place sounded so big… they were opening for U2! No wonder

The Pixies- Barrymore Theater, Madison Wi 1/25/92 xfer from 1st gen audio cassette complete show

Here’s another “On this day in history” recording, that I received from the taper and can’t remember who that is. I had moved to trading on DAT almost completely at this point and this is on cassette, so this person must have only taped on cassette, and had good stuff that I had to have.
This is a pretty nice quality recording of The Pixies that I can’t find anywhere else online. I think this was a WMD3 or WMD6 recording. I did a little EQ (drop bass slightly, boost mids), but it didn’t need a lot of help.
For you Sacramento folks, my DAT recording of The Pixies at the Crest Theater is on the archive. Check it out if you want.

Pixies- Crest Theater, Sacramento Ca. 12/19/91 Audio xfer from DAT Master

Since some of you will be heading to the big arena tonight to see The Pixies, I thought I’d upload this recording from the first time they played Sac.
I don’t remember a whole lot about the show. Then only thing I remember is that I was seated with Jason, John and Mike and they had started their first song when this clearly drunk guy came down the row to his seat, and he thought it would be funny to spin around as he went, and he jostled the mic. You can hear it at about 2:10.

Pixies- University of Texas Ballroom, Austin Tx 10/22/89 xfer from master audio cassette Frank Black

I was wading through the excel sheets last night for a good On This Date in History post today and I saw this one there. I had traded Craig Hilmer for this one about 35 years ago, but he just handed me a grocery bag of master tapes a couple weeks ago. Hmm… could the master be in there? Yup. So I digitized it this morning. Same day service!

The quality is quite good for the main part of the set, especially after some EQ work. Quality falls off a bit for the encore- it seems like he might have moved. Craig, please chime in if you have any memories of this.
