Pirates of Venus- Demo 1987 Xfer from master/1st gen Tales of Terror Verbal Abuse and Decry Members!

This one is for Jakobe and the rest of the guys from the Tales of Terror group- huge thanks to him for contacting Pat and getting permission to post this one here.
The band had Pat Stratford (Rats Ass from Tales of Terror) on vocals, Joie Mastrokalos (verbal abuse) on guitar, a couple of bass players (see below) and Patrick Muzingo on drums.
Here is what Patrick M says about the band:
“the Farm show is the 1st show we did(The Farm 12/28/86, also on the channel/website!). Before we did that show we spent two weeks in a space that Taz Rudd procured in Monrovia, CA.
When we got kicked out of there, we moved to Reno for two weeks to “fine-tune” the mess that you are hearing at the farm.
After that, we spent the next six months going back-and-forth between Los Angeles and San Francisco, the original bass player was Todd Muscat, he split, Dusty joined in asap.
We did a four song demo played more shows up in San Francisco, Sac and in LA for 4 months. Shade was along for that ride.
I bailed from the lineup after the van blew up going back to LA and getting stuck in Wasco while Joie hustled pool to pay for the transmission rebuild
I believe Joie went on and did a few shows after that with a different singer.

Pirates of Venus- El Dorado Saloon, Sacramento 1/10/87 xfer f/ master audio cassette Tales of Terror

Ah yes, it is time for Mediocre Monday! Today’s tape sounds like hot garbage but it is one of only 2 Pirates of Venus live recordings known to exist. POV had members of Verbal Abuse, Decry and Rat’s Ass (Pat Strattford) from Tales of Terror on vocals. Great band who imploded before they could even get going.
The funny thing is that I probably could have asked to tape through the board and been fine with it. I now know D.I. didn’t mind… but back then, we thought these guys were BIG stars and there would be no way to do that. Derp.
The venue had power issues during POV’s set so there is a lot of downtime in the set. Special appearance by Katie Parker and Izzy yelling into my mic during a stoppage.

Pirates of Venus- The Farm, SF 12/28/86 xfer from master tape! Audio Only Tales of Terror

I have a ton of stuff to post, but I bumped this one to the front of the line for a friend. Andy Andersen (former Attitude Adjustment/Condemned Attitude/Attitude/Two Bit Thief vocalist) called me yesterday and we reminisced for about an hour. He saw me in the Crowdshot movie and got back in touch with me! It was nice to hear from him again! Andy asked about POV, and he was surprised that I had recordings of them. POV had members of Verbal Abuse, Decry and Rat’s Ass (Pat Strattford) from Tales of Terror on vocals. They were probably my favorite late-80’s “rock and roll” act that came out in the wake of Guns and Roses’ success. This was recorded on a very unprofessional Panasonic handheld recorder. Don’t expect perfect quality.
