Muffs- WDRE “Underground Lounge” Live in Studio, Philadelphia 5/23/95 xfer from Pre-FM DAT Mix Maste

Sometimes when a tape is labeled “pre-FM soundboard”, it is just the live performance as it was broadcast, but taped through the system in studio. Not this one. You get to hear all of the chatter between DJ’s and the band, along with only some of the commercials and some silence (which I assume is a spot for local stations to stick a commercial in). A really fun listen if you are a Muffs fan.
but, BE PREPARED FOR BIG GAPS OF SILENCE.
Another Ebay troll/score btw.

Luna- Khyber Pass Pub, Philadelphia Pa. 10/19/92 xfer from 1st gen audio tape

Here is the last concert on the DAT with firehose’s last show and Luna’s KCRW performance. At this show, Dean gets a bottle thrown at him- you can hear him end the show abruptly, mid-song but they come back and finish the set. Man, Philly is a tough town- they live up to their reputation.

Uncle Tupelo- Philadelphia, Pa. 2/27/92 Xfer from master or 1st gen tape band archive Soundboard

It’s been a little while since I posted a tupelo show, so here is one from that short tour w/Teenage Fanclub in early 1992. Sounds pretty nice, and they close the set with that killer Gang of Four cover “I Found That Essence Rare”.

Hallows Eve- Swizzles, York Pa. 12/18/86 xfer from VHS tape enhanced Power Thrash Speed Metal

There was a guy who filmed a bunch of stuff at this club back in the 1980s- I never traded with him directly but I had copies of Cro-Mags, Crumbsuckers and a few others. I never had this set- this was after MDC on Wayne V’s VHS tape. Quality is pretty decent for a VHS dub. I decided to post it without knowing lineage since I could not find the entire show on youtube- I think there is 1 song posted.

Slayer- Empire Rock Club Philadelphia, Pa 11/1/84 xfer from master audio cassette Thrash Metal

I’m a little late with the post today because this Win 7 dinosaur of a PC was acting up- it acts like it burns a blu ray, but when you check the disc, it’s blank. At least I was able to ID it real-time and after multiple burn tests and reboots, back in biz.
It’s Tour Manager Doug Tuesday! Since there is an unbelievable amount of Slayer in his collection, let’s get at least 1 slayer show up per week for the next.. let’s see.. 12 weeks or so. That will land us right around the time that they play Aftershock.
This one appears to be uncirculated. When I usually look up a Doug tape, there is some hissy/inferior quality version of it online somewhere. Not this one, and I had never even heard of this club. It seems to be your typical 80s Metal club- everything from Thrash to Hair and all in between.
This one cleaned up alright- it was super tinny but EQ did the job this time.
