Alive (from Off center) PBS TV Show w/ Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy Michael Franti f/Master Beta

Here’s another one that I have had sitting in my drafts for over a year- this one was one of those blind Russ Gibb ebay auctions that I picked up way back, and it turned out to be stuff he taped off TV. I dug into it a bit more and these seem to be sought after and with Franti’s DHoH, it made sense to post.
Alive from Off Center, renamed Alive TV in 1992, is an American arts anthology television series that aired on PBS between 1985 and 1996.

Each week, the series featured experimental short films by a mixture of up-and-coming and established directors.

Michael Franti and Charlie Hunter- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca. 9/15/90 xfer from 2nd gen VHS Enhanced

I don’t have much time today, so here’s a short but rare clip.
This was Michael Franti, post- Beatnigs and before Spearhead. Joining him on guitar is Charlie Hunter, who went on to do some interesting stuff as well.

I also have a master soundboard tape of the show, so if anyone wants to synch them up, let me know!

They played a short set, opening for Chumbawamba and Neurosis.
