Jason Lytle & Virgil Shaw- 1st Friday Fest, 10th Street Plaza, Modesto Ca. 9/6/19 4K UHD LIVE

My plans for this past Friday changed pretty much the second I saw Middagh Goodwin’s post on Wednesday. Jason Lytle was playing Modesto’s version of Sac’s second saturday. It was nice to finally see him play- he rarely performs and it has been years since I last saw a show.

He swapped songs with Virgil Shaw, who used to be in Brent’s TV (Gilman Connection) & Dieselhad in the 80s/90s. Great stuff- he is very entertaining to watch – very animated.

We get a new song from Jason that he wrote in his truck that morning- called “Going to Hell”.

Huge thanks to Middagh for booking this show.

Jason Lytle- Press Club, Sacramento Ca. 5/7/07 Master Digital Audio Live DPA4061 Mics

There are a few shows at Press Club that really stand out as being really special to me. Son Volt in 95, Barbara Manning in 2000(I booked this one), Fastbacks in 200x… and more recently, Smoking Popes, Mean Jeans, and tons of awesome local bands.
This one is also an all-time favorite. I was a huge Lytle fan at the time (late comer in 2003), and I had not been able to see him perform a full set before. My friend “Anonymous” recorded the show. I got there about 30 seconds before Jason started his first song. Thanks Anonymous!
Thanks Ira and Club Pow for making the show happen

Audio Live Concert

Grandaddy- The Beat, Sacramento Ca. 5/21/06 xfer from DAT Master

I was late to the party with Grandaddy but they became my favorite band in the early 00’s. By that time, they had stopped touring so I never got to see them. Then they release “Just Like the Fambly Cat” in 2006 and Jason played a few shows as a promotional tour. This was the last show billed as grandaddy until the reunion shows, 6 years later. I love the acoustic version of “this is where it always starts” on this. Cool cash register and phone sound effects as well.
Oh, I forgot to do anything with this recording before posting it, so there is 20-30 seconds of silence at the start, a big BOOM when I plug/unplug my mics, and the audience clapping is a bit loud. it’s raw- sorry.
