Here’s another one from Gary Shurtleff’s master transfer project I did last year. I can’t figure out why I missed this show- I was a huge fan of the opener (Mary’s Danish)- I bet it was because I had tickets to Lollapalooza less than 2 months later and they were headlining. Odd, I don’t even remember this one being announced or discussed.

Jane’s Addiction- Numbers, Houston Tx. 1/14/89 xfer from 1st gen VHS tape On This Day
Alrighty, here is the next “on this day” post. Yesterday’s was odd- either nobody cared about it, or it was buried in FB’s algorithm.. and then a bunch of fake fb profiles liked it. So, er, thanks to “grace grace”, “Lucy Lucy”, “Sally Sally” and the other 78 bots who liked the post along with the 3 real people. Man, that was weird. Let’s hope that this one goes better.
This one comes from my good friend Jim Utz- we started trading tapes in 1986 and have been friends ever since. We both used to trade with a guy name Mike Elias(I think that is his name). He was a personality- very funny guy. He would bootleg shows in small to midsize venues and then get super indignant when he would get busted. I still remember him writing me and calling some band “ess holes”. The joys of tape trading. Mike filmed this one.
Camera work is shaky, but it sounds decent and it is way better quality than the other one on YT at this time.

This video is similar to the one I posted 9 months ago for one of the very first “On This Date” posts I made. It’s a Janes Addiction show from Houston, comes from Jim Utz’ collection and was filmed by Mike Elias(sp?). It’s odd that Janes would play 2 shows 3 months apart in Houston, but I guess that’s how it rolls when you are blowing up in popularity and you get to open for Iggy Pop.
