Janes Addiction- Lollapalooza, Shoreline Amp, Mountain View Ca 7/26/91 master xfer Nakamichi CM300

Hello! Today is the Mediocre Monday that (almost) never was… I had digitized this cassette last week, then either lost the burned data DVD or deleted it from hard drive without burning. D’oh! Luckily, I was able to do it again this morning.
There is a funny story behind this one- after we discovered the “secret” concession stand at the back of the lawn, we proceeded to drink way too much beer. By the time Jane’s came on, I could not hold it anymore- I had to find the bathroom. I found it ok, but I got lost trying to get back to my spot on the lawn. I wandered around forever, hopelessly lost, and finally just went to the car. That’s why you hear my friends saying “shayne’s a dick!” in between songs. I left the deck, mics and everything there. They found me asleep in the car. What a day!

Janes Addiction- UCSB, Santa Barbara Ca 5/6/89 Xfer from 1st gen VHS Complete show Perry Farrell

I pulled and digitized a VHS tape for today’s on this date in history. I don’t do it often because it is a huge ordeal to do a quick turnaround on VHS since the lossless files are so big, but this one is pretty cool and nowhere near this quality that I can find online.

I got this from the guy who filmed this and some other good stuff in the area- he did Toad the Wet Sprocket when they were just starting out in tiny clubs. I think his name is/was David.

Janes Addiction- L’Amour, Brooklyn NY 2/25/89 xfer from 2nd gen VHS tape

I was caught unprepared for today’s “On This Day in History” post- I had a meeting that ran long and I still needed to digitize the cassette. So I did a quick search to see if I could find anything else to post and I found this one. This is from Jim Utz’ VHS tapes that I digitized many years ago. He had a 2nd gen VHS tape of the show, which seems to be one hell of a lot better quality than the version of this show that is up on Youtube now.

Recorded by: Those new york bootleg guys who did a ton of show probably

Concrete Blonde, DOORS Janes Addiction, fIREHOSE, Los Lobos- Musicalifornia TV Show 1st gen VHS 1988

Here is the last Musicalifornia episode (Episode 13, 1988) that I have. These were a blast to see and share. We did discover through sharing these, that The Pandoras’ Karen Basset is married to the gentleman who produced this series. He has been digitizing his Beta SP masters! Maybe the rest of these episodes will see the light of day sometime.
The Los Lobos- Cinco de Mayo footage on this one is GOLD. Wish it was longer. The Concrete Blonde live footage is well done, too.

Thanks to Erik Flannigan for sending these my way, and to Rick Gershon for holding onto the VHS tape for all these years.

Concrete Blonde, DOORS Janes Addiction, fIREHOSE, Los Lobos- Musicalifornia TV Show 1st gen VHS 1988

OK, here is a repost of the musicalifornia from last week. It took a week to repost because I learned that the Youtube trimming algorithm sucks. I had to chop off EIGHT minutes (the firehose and janes addiction videos) to get it to take.
