The Briefs- Vinyl Solution, Huntington Beach Ca 9/24/01 digital master audio recording Seattle Punk

I received a surprise collections file from Lob Instagon last night. Lob used to live up here in Sacramento and ran shows/did sound at Shine Coffeehouse. He has since moved to Miami, Az. While he was here, he would travel down to his old place of employment in Huntington Beach for events. He happened to bring his Zoom recorder for The Briefs’ in-store (down from Seattle) a few years back.
It sounded good as-is, but I EQ’d it to bring up the low end a little.

Cover by Lob

EDIT: Lob let me know that this is for 2001, not 2021. He lived in so cal at the time and used a minidisc recorder!

Equipment used: Minidisc recorder and mic

Simpletones- Old World Fest, Huntington Beach Ca 7/19/91 xfer from unknown gen VHS tape Rosemead Punk

I pulled this DVD out of the collection for On This Date in History. I digitized this from Jason Ross’ tapes a few years ago. I had not heard of the Simpletones. Here’s what discogs said about them:
“Short lived Punk Rock band from Rosemead, California, formed in 1978 and disbanded in early 1980. During their lifetime they have released just one single on Posh Boy and some compilation features.”
This must have been a reunion show. The guitar player Jay Lansford moved to germany in 1990 and formed the Simpletones A.D. with new musicians for their 30th anniversary, but that was probably in the 2000’s sometime.
