Grandaddy- Henry Miller Library, Big Sur Ca. 8/8/12 Part 1 1080p HD Master

I think most fans of the band have heard about Kevin Garcia’s passing by now. Even though Grandaddy are from my area, I did not become a fan until I heard them on KEXP in 2002 or 2003 time frame. They became my favorite band in a hurry and have been so ever since. This was the first time I was able to see a proper Grandaddy show- it was their first official show back after a long layoff. Please give to Kevin’s family through their gofundme page. Sorry that it cuts at the end. I forgot to bring another battery. thanks

Grandaddy- The Beat, Sacramento Ca. 5/21/06 xfer from DAT Master

I was late to the party with Grandaddy but they became my favorite band in the early 00’s. By that time, they had stopped touring so I never got to see them. Then they release “Just Like the Fambly Cat” in 2006 and Jason played a few shows as a promotional tour. This was the last show billed as grandaddy until the reunion shows, 6 years later. I love the acoustic version of “this is where it always starts” on this. Cool cash register and phone sound effects as well.
Oh, I forgot to do anything with this recording before posting it, so there is 20-30 seconds of silence at the start, a big BOOM when I plug/unplug my mics, and the audience clapping is a bit loud. it’s raw- sorry.

Grandaddy- EPK (Electronic Press Kit) for Sumday 2003 xfer from VHS Master

Out of all of Eddie’s collection, this was the one that I have been looking forward to the most. Grandaddy is one of my all-time favorite bands, and I blew it and was late to the party (2003), and missed them when they were a local band. I only got to see them live twice, in 2012 and 2017. I had tickets to the Gallo Center shows, then Kevin passed. đŸ˜¦ R.I.P.
Anyway, this EPK is amazing and hilarious. There is a cliffhanger ending where Jason FINALLY reveals his secret to songwriting… it’s a MUST WATCH.

Grandaddy- Spaceland, Los Angeles Ca. 3/17/00 Audio Only Jason Lytle

I ran out of time to transfer something from my archive of stuff, so I dug through a box of discs that I received from Matt Hargrove for something Sacramento related… and happened to pull out one of my favorite bands from Northern Cal- thanks Matt!
I was late to the party with Grandaddy. I heard KEXP play “Now its On” from Sumday in 2002 and was hooked. Then I learned that the band was from Modesto and I missed out on years of local shows, doing (even better) early stuff. D’oh! I am still hoping that Brian McKenna finds that demo tape (1 of 5) that the band gave him.
This recording has unknown lineage, but it seems like all recordings of the band are really nice quality.
