The Freeze- Zwischenfall, Bochum Germany 10/23/91 complete show Boston Hardcore Punk

I love The Freeze. It makes me happy that they are active again and Bill is playing in the band again- can’t wait until they finally make it up our way. Most of the shows have been in AZ or southern Cal. So that’s why I decided to post this questionable quality video today. I have no idea who filmed it or what the lineage is- I pulled it off punktorrents, back when I had time for that kind of nonsense.

Thin White Rope- AJZ, Bielefeld Germany 6/1/90 Audio Soundboard xfer from 1st gen band archive tape

I was digging through a tray of tapes a while back for something else and came across this one. This is one of my favorite TWR tapes, out of the ~100ish that I have. ML told me that this is just a straight board mix, but it came out amazing. TWR board mixes are usually unbalanced because they played so loud, but this one was close to perfect- all I had to do was boost the high end a bit. A rare case when the band sounds amazing and the mix works. Thanks ML for sending this to me about 30 years ago!!
Listen with headphones- Roger’s guitar is in one channel and guy’s is in the other. Kick ass, espcially during Mr. Limpet.

Thin White Rope- AJZ, Bielefeld Germany 6/1/90 Audio Soundboard xfer from 1st gen band archive tape Rebalance

Bonus post today- I posted this a couple weeks back and one of the band members mentioned Guy’s vocals being buried in the mix. His vocals were almost always low in the mix. I rebalanced this one and pushed the vocals up as much as possible and got some feedback that this one sounds better. So here is the boosted vocal version for you.

Verbal Assault- Alzey, Germany 10/28/89 from Unknown Gen VHS Tape Boston Rhode Island Hardcore Punk

Today’s On This Date in History comes from Jason Ross’ collection. Even though it is transferred from an unknown gen VHS tape AND had the old school PAL to NTSC conversion done, the quality isn’t that bad. It’s better and more complete than the 1 song from this show on YT now…

I figured I would post this in honor of Belly hitting the road to tour my favorite album of theirs, King. What the heck does Belly have to do with Verbal Assault? Well, Chris and Tom Gorman played in Verbal Assault before joining Belly! Not sure if they are on this video through, it’s kind of hard to tell.

Also, 71 minutes? That must be a world record for hardcore band set length.

Naked Raygun- AJZ, Bielefeld, West Germany 10/29/88 xfer f/soundboard cassette rebalanced Complete

It’s been a while since I posted anything from the mighty Naked Raygun, so this one seemed good for today’s On This Date in History… until I listened to it. Yikes, this mix had some issues. The vocals were a bit over saturated, there was no bass and the guitar was low. There is some high end phasing issue later in the set as well. I did what I could to fix it up.

If you want a better quality example from the Jettison tour, check out the one that Radley and I taped from 924 Gilman in May of 88 on this channel/website. This one isn’t that bad and it is the only recording I have ever seen from Germany of NR.

M.D.C.- Bad, Hamburg Germany 11/26/87 xfer f/low/mid gen source Millions of Dead Hardcore Punk Cops

Another video of unknown origin for today’s On This Date in History. This one came from Bong, a friend of my pal punksnotdeadgr. I don’t know if Bong is still archiving- he did a ton of great work getting the best possible copies of old punk video digitized and cleaned up 10-15 years ago but I have not heard from him lately.

This one is an epic 80 minute set from MDC’s euro tour in 1987. I can’t believe that a band that played such ferocious music did an 80 minute set. Al must have been in top shape, drumming like that every night. Haha.

Suicide- Wartburg, Weisbaden Germany 1/21/87 Audio Only xfer from 2nd Gen to DAT Clone Alan Vega

I get quite a few requests to post stuff through messages from the sacmusicarchive website’s “contact us” email. I try to accommodate as much as I can but I am always backed up with requests/projects. Poor Hernan asked me to transfer this DAT about 3 months ago and I told him it would be done in about 2 weeks. Whoops! Sorry Hernan.

Government Issue- Alternative, Lubeck, West Germany 10/14/86 xfer f/2nd gen VHS tape G.I. John Stabb

It’s finally time for the Patreon Voter’s Choice! Supporters voted this in last week. They also voted for one of my masters the week before that is still going to happen- it will tape some work.
I traded with a guy in Columbus who got a ton of punk shows from the person who taped them- mostly from Neely B’s from Columbus. But the filmer also went on a european tour with Government Issue and filmed a ton of shows. This is 1 of about 6 that I have. I had more than 10 from that tour at one point but I lost some in the great purge of 2008. Ugh, big regret.
