Fastbacks- Bottom of the Hill, San Francisco Ca 1/30/94 xfer from 2nd gen audio cassette incomplete

For today’s “on this day in history” post, I found a Fastbacks recording that wasn’t out there so it was a no-brainer to choose this one. It looks like I got this one in a trade with Steve Hanson (R.I.P.) who got it from the taper. It’s incomplete, so if anyone has a line on the full show, let me know.
I did my best with this one. It was a bit tinny so I EQ’d it to bring up bass and get rid of the harshness. The vocals were a bit buried so I izotope’d them up a bit as well.
Look at that weekend of shows at BOTH! Thanks to DJ for the newspapers dot com help- the tape was labeled as being at Kennel Club, but it didn’t sound like a Kennel tape. Turns out is was from BOTH.

The Fastbacks- Blind Pig, Ann Arbor Mi. 8/11/93 xfer from 2nd gen audio cassette Live

The Fastbacks are one of my all-time favorites and a band that I feel doesn’t get nearly the love they deserve. Here is a show from the legendary Blind Pig in Ann Arbor Mi.
The recording is clear but it was lacking in low end. I had to boost the hell out of the lows, and drop the mids and highs to get this result. Just imagine what it sounded like before! Yikes!!

Fastbacks- Off Ramp Cafe, Seattle Wa 1/6/91 xfer from 4th gen audio cassette Subpop Punk

I miss the Fastbacks- I even emailed Kurt to see if there was any chance they were going to play anytime soon. I didn’t hear back :-). Oh well, it was worth a try.
This is a decent audience recording of the band. Sounds like a Sony D3 recording to me. Very listenable but not perfect.
