Connoisseur- The Colony, Sacramento Ca 2/19/22 4k UHD Live full set Weed Hardcore

After fighting with this damned Dinosaur Jr. video for days, you get last night’s show from the Colony instead. Connoisseur came out from Oakland for the first time since the before times, and they played a long (for them) set. They write some catchy stuff. They have a new split EP with Chris Dodge’s Trappist- I picked up the vinyl at the show.
What a night- I was hanging outside, talking with my friend Dan from Conno. Over the course of about 10 minutes, we saw one guy come flying out of the club, lay on the sidewalk, and spit blood everywhere. That must have been a vicious elbow/fist to the nose. Then, a few minutes later, a huge mass of bodies comes rolling out of the club, punching each other. Damn, rough night.

My friend Dan Hague and his band connoisseur came through town last weekend so I decided to bring my wife to the show on “date night”. She had no idea what powerviolence was, but she survived the show and even enjoyed seeing them play. They were great- Carlos is an entertaining front man.

Also nice to see Lee Osh and Scott Torguson- first time meeting Scott in person.

Dead Pressure / Connoisseur- Cafe Colonial, Sacramento Ca 4/24/15 Canon HF G30 Rode mic grindcore

Sometimes I video shows and then forget about them. Here is one that I recorded On This Date in History, 10 years ago.

I don’t know much about deadpressure, but my friend Daniel Hague is the guitarist and vocalist in connoisseur. We worked together on the Turn it Around documentary. Daniel also has/had a great blog (distort Oakland) where he would digitize and post audio tapes, kinda like the sac music archive- I think a good chunk of Chris Dodge’s collection is posted there. I hope the blog wakes up from its nap someday.
