Souvenirs- Ace of Spades, Sacramento 6/12/15 Punk Band opened for The Story So Far

So the Ace of Spades was apparently the place to be last night. I went to film some bands for my good friend Agelos, and the place was sold out. Not only was it sold out, but the main floor (where the under 21 kids were) was impossibly packed. It was crazy. These guys are from Caprenteria, Ca. and they opened the show. I liked them quite a bit. I only got about 7 minutes, but I thought I’d post it anyway. Filmed with a Canon HFG30 on a monopod and Rode Video Pro Stereo mic.

Terror- Ace of Spades, Sacramento Ca. 6/12/15 Part 1

Terror was the most energetic band of the night. Their lead singer was in the hospital, so they had a substitute. I thought that guy looked different than the guy that I saw at the metro last year…

Soul Asylum- Ace of Spades, Sacramento Ca. 4/6/13 Master audience recording DPA 4061 Mics Live

I usually post 1 new to youtube thing per day and I don’t pay much attention to that “on this day” type of thing.. but this show came up in my facebook memories and I thought what the hell.
Man, was this show depressing. I think there were probably about 50-100 people in the 600-capacity club. I even got a cheap discounted ticket from the local arts and entertainment paper here… so they couldn’t even give tickets away. Sad.
On the bright side, the show sounds great. No audience means no annoying audience noise, plus I was able to stroll around and find the acoustic sweet spot. It starts sounding really nice about 20min in. I missed part of the first song of the set- I got in the door right when they started playing, so I had to scramble to get mics set up in a couple minutes.

7 Seconds- Ace of Spades, Sacramento Ca 11/30/12 Master Enhanced HD video w Soundboard Audio Kevin

When I was doing my “On This Date” thing last month, I realized that I had a soundboard recording from this night as well. I took the original video files and degrained them, then I rebalanced the soundboard to bring up the bass and guitar. Turned out pretty good.
Watching this gets me pretty excited for these shows they are doing next year. I bought WAY too many tickets all over the country with the hope that I can make the shows. We’ll see how it pans out.
