Where do I start with this one. What a show! This was a one-off local headlining show to commemorate their 40 years of being a band, and they made sure that it was a special occasion to celebrate. The band starts with playing songs off of Voltage & Violets- there were so many from the album that I wondered if they were going to play the entire album. Then they moved on to Things I hate to Admit.. and I realized that they were playing songs from each album in chronological order. It was amazing- almost a 2 hour show, easily the longest VF show I have ever seen.
The band was remarkably tight and well-rehearsed. These songs are not easy to pull off, and pulling off about 50 of them had to take a ton of prep. Massive thanks to the band for this gift. It was really amazing. I counted 2 false starts, which warrants an A in my grade book.
The first hour of the show sounds a bit harsh- I had to move to an area to video that was not the best sounding. Vocals are a bit squelchy and guitars were distant. It still sounds good- it’s hard to screw up too bad with these mics. I think it sounds a lot better after I moved back. Apologies for the chatter in the 2nd hour- I had a small health issue and friends were checking on me. More on that when I post the video this weekend. The video is over 95gb- it’s gonna take some time to process
