This was an odd night. The show was on a Sunday night and even though it was well-promoted, everyone seemed to forget it was coming up. Chris Lemos had to remind me a couple of times. I think it was because it was on a work/school night, at the end of a run of a bunch of killer shows. Anyway, not many people showed… which means that we didn’t get the encore with all of the Trouble songs. I was bummed. I hauled my ass out of the house, AND had to be on a plane for work at 6am the next day. No excuse for such a weak turnout.

This one is individual songs on a youtube playlist, so keep watching!
I finally got to see Sick Burn- the new band with Craig, Anthony & Lory from RAD. Great stuff! Still intense and the new songs rule. This an extended set so we could all eat cupcakes during the intro. Craig held up well despite the extra 5min set length.
Blistering cover of “I got a right” at the end of the set.

Well, I don’t know how to describe these guys. 2 nerds who sing about IT stuff and have song titles like “I fucking love sand”. Powerviolence/grind with catchy as hell breakdowns. This may be their last show for a while. Enjoy! I hope their band name doesn’t screw up my wordpress site.

XTOMHANX played last night at the cafe and they were LOUD. Like, bleed through my hearos earplugs and make my ears ring loud. I noticed that my camera was vibrating badly about halfway through their set, so I used my super professional vibration dampening device- MY SHOE. Yes, I put my monopod on my shoe to make the vibration stop.
They were great- best show I have seen of theirs. Adam played the drums so hard that he knocked over a cymbal stand while playing.

The strange party played a really special set for this show- they broke out some of their really old (and great) songs.. and then they surprised us with an encore of “I think of demons” by Roky Erickson! It was so awesome!! I hope that Jim McLain’s video has more vocals so we can hear Justin a bit better.

So Ken Doose and the Cafe Colonial had a KILLER lineup for the Bat Guano release show- 4 great artists! Frack was second up on the bill. I missed Tim Williamson because a man’s gotta eat!
