Old 97s- Fillmore, San Francisco Ca 10/12/01 xfer from master DV Tape Incomplete Old 97’s Americana

This On this date in history video has a long story. I will try to keep it short.

This was the Old 97s’ first time ever playing the Fillmore, so there was quite a bit of excitement around the show. I get a video pass (back when the Fillmore allowed those- I could go on about this) and get right up front to video. It was so loud that you can see the volume actually affect the image quality at times. You can see the camera dip a few times- this is because I was getting asked if I had a pass to video from Fillmore staff about every 5 minutes. Super annoying.

About 35 minutes into the set, the camera stops. I figure that it needs a new battery but nope. I think the volume killed the camera. It was totally dead- I had to send it in for repairs.

The audio is super glitchy to start but it gets better a few minutes in. My old friend KN has superior audio- if I ever get the OK to synch it, we can do a better transfer of this videotape on the commercial/industrial machine I have and synch up his audio. Someday hopefully.

Rhett mentions a “Live at the Fillmore” audio release at the beginning. Never happened. You see some dude with a huge camera on stage- also never released. I hope that audio/footage is on a tape somewhere still…
